I am pretty sure an officer cannot wear his or her uniform or badge outside of their duty while making money. Just like when the girl got fired from the police for wearing her uniform in Playboy.

And this was NO marketing ploy on Lou's part at all. I promise you that. Becoming a reserve cop is not at or anywhere near the top of marketing ideas for someone who wants to further his career or make more money. Having it on TV was 100% the LAPD's doing which is smart because kids do look up to Lou and having people like him who is a celebrity on the side of the law promoting it is 100% a great idea. At least Lou is out there doing something positive, how many other pros do something like this. Now Titus is another story. Maybe Lou can work the courtroom

I read yesterday that his annual salary is about $1- similar to what Shaz gets in Florida. So as much as I like to razz big Louie for being a cheapskate, this one sounds like a pretty cool charitable volunteer thing to do.

Take a deep breath. Re-read. Just watch the guy. See if he is being entirely altruistic, or if he's going to exploit this for profit.

It looks like a well-constructed marketing platform. Increase visibility with commercials in Jan, do an extremely public good-cause action in Feb, then either A) Sell way more at the expos or other outlets, or B) Use this new media capital to push an anti-steroid agenda in front of the cameras at this years' ASC

If Lou was truly all about charity, he wouldn't have been charging these same kids $20 per autograph for the last 15 years.
