Just did a 42k race on the weekend. Came 16th, but should have been top 5.

blew out badly with 5k to go. I was in a dark place. It was as dark as Leroy's asshole.

you still hitting the trails?

Damn dude that's a full marathon?...is that trails or just a road race?

...doing my running but need another place to run or I have to add laps to the park I run at. next summer will be a 7 mile run with 25 obstacles and I want to be able to do it at good clip with no rest.

The ones with obstacles are killers, takes extra fitness to do that.

It was a trail marathon, 2000 m of climbing. Lots of people went too hard at the start and had a long day at the office.

For me the obstacles are easier then the running.....it's the stop, start from doing the obstacles that kicks mine and a lot of people asses.

...how long did the run take you.

Both legs were cramping really bad. When it's cramp there's not a lot that can be done.

Yeah, I've had that happen after 10 miles.  I just end up punching it and hoping it goes away.

So no matter what you can't prevent it?....everyone that I know that runs long distance say that they eat a banana a day leading up to the race.

Had plenty of potassium and electrolytes.   2 liters of coconut water, bananas, etc.....still happened.

First one was left quad on 4th ascent up black diamond at original TM.  If I stopped moving, it was agony.  Punched it repeatedly - when I got to the top, it was gone.

Last one was after mile ten in left calf any time on an incline.  Had to run "funny" to prevent it, then it stopped after a mile.

I'm not sure what to do, honestly.   Cramping seems to be the thing that destroys a ton of people at these things.  First one that I mentioned was on a mountain, and there were so many people cramped up.

When I was watching the Spartan championship it seemed lots of people had the hardest time with cramps when coming out of the cold water.
