This is potentially what we're looking at on election day.  This really worries me.  I doubt the voters would tolerate this for more than one term, but one term of this is nothing but trouble IMO.

We are at war in two countries.

We are on the precipice of economic ruin.

And you' guys are worried about some spineless politicians who blow with the wind?

Once Obama cracks the proverbial whip, things should settle out.

Dude Pelosi and Reid have been cracking the whip and Obama has been following their lead.  Hasn't he voted with them on pretty much everything?  Did you watch the third debate when Obama was asked if he ever challenged his own party and he couldn't name a single instance?

He's going to be a lapdog.

I disagree.   I think he's going to be closer to Clinton than anything else.  I don't know what his voting record is in association with Reid or Pelosi but I do know that McCain voted with Bush 90% of the time and the Bush administration has been a decisive failure.

We can't afford more failure like that.

During what legislative session during the past eight years did either the House or Senate have a filibuster-proof Republican majority?

If it happens and if they use the power to a degree unfavorable, they lose bigtime in just 2 years.  It's not like they're handed a dictatorship if this happens.  There will be blowback on their minds with what they do, unlike President Bush who seems to not have given a shit about any blowback.  The republicans are suffering from it right now... They should have checked Bush but you guys only had one Hagel and Paul.  If there were more like these guys, you all would be doing good today.  Anyway, I don't see the Dems going apeshit and if they do, I'll be right there opposing it along with many like me... I'm not married to the democrats and independents have grown much larger.  There is only so far they will be able to go even with total control, that is something to consider.  Hell if they blow it that bad, it would be a boon to the republicans.

Busted, your incorrect.  They did not have a filibuster proof majority.

This is very concerning...to give this much unchecked power to one party.  particularly when several of the leaders are to the left wing of the party itself.

I hope your right Decker.  I pray Obama will be more like Bill Clinton.  If he is, much of this worry will go away and he will go down as an amazing president.  However, so far, he has rarely been against his party (pay for performance with teachers is one...but he still rarely bucks the far left in his party and his ideas are historically pretty left wing).

Exactly Hugo.  Many republicans in power have strayed from true American Conservatism.
