Member "WalterWhite" has a very rich history in competitive power-lifting and has much to offer to those that are interested in both power-lifting and bodybuilding.

The guy is strong, real strong.

Now, now... We have about 30 members that have now sent us requests for Blue Stars.

Some will not be approved and some already have been. WalterWhite has a very, very impressive record in power-lifting and provided everything we needed for verification.

That said, Ron is the person in charge of ultimately granting Blue Stars. I don't have the power to add them to anyone's profile.

I competed as a teen at 165 which I had a difficult time making! When I began training at big powerlifting/bodybuilding gym called Peps in Framingham MA for football some of the older guys began helping me with my lifting techniques and showed me how to squat.  I benched raw and the Inzer blast shirts were not even an option. I wore a supersuit for squats and often deadlifted raw because the suit was uncomfortable.

Best teenage contest lifts  - 535 squat, 345 bench (USPF had long pauses) and 570 dead. These lifts won teenage nationals at 165.

I decided to do a couple bench contests in college and again struggled with the long pauses (many would sink the bar into their chest but I was not comfortable with that). At 21 at 198 (weighed in at 192) I benched 425 in the US Championships and won my class.  I put up 450 but one judge said I did not pause long enough. A month later I got the 450 raw.

Best 198 contest lifts - squat 625, 505 bench raw and 660 dead. Biggest contest miss was a 530 which nearly came down on my face (great spotters). Best gym single was 540 with an Inzer blast single ply (like a tight tee) at a bw of 202. I will say contest lifts, when judged correctly, are a whole different ball game when compared to gym lifts. I was failed one time for racking too soon!

I was fortunate to train with some amazing people to include Ted Arcidi and Bev Francis. When I left powerlifting due to time restraints with my job at 24 I never stopped lifting and many of you have seen my pics on the board.

Very cool, thanks for the info. Ted talks about Peps often when we go for lunch. I bought a leg machine off of Powerlifter John McGuire who also trained at Peps back in the day...

We have about 4 more that are in the works for getting their blue stars.

We recently had a large influx of members asking for blue stars.

That is cool.  I am competitive as well, but I am not going to make a big deal like some people do about some blue starts next to my name lol.

Last time I saw Ted at his place in Manchester he had his elbows bandaged which I believe was from his second bone spur surgery.  Small world because I had just run a cardiac residents symposium on valve repair and his brother Joe was in the class!

Peps was an amazing gym and to learn from guys like Ted (who was at one point kicked out) and other top lifters like the Paul brothers (the owners sons) was invaluable from a competitive perspective.

There is no Blue Stars Club. Besides, you are at the bottom of the list there, too. I hardly want to be a member of any club that accepts you!

Thanks again guys for the positive comments!

Just so we know, what can you bench nowadays?

In 02 I crashed a mountain bike and a grade one separation in my right shoulder went to grade 3.  As it healed I found that dumbbell flies/presses and using hammer incline/decline were just fine.  Up until then I rarely went over 365 and often benched using a smith to avoid the need for a spotter.

I have good strength but often do sets of 20 reps on pec movements and overall I do fast circuits to keep my heart rate up.

I think I've already expressed my generally warm and friendly feelings towards you, so OBVIOUSLY congrats.

The feelings are mutual and thank you!  ;)
