Aldo was never in trouble. He won 4 of the rounds according to the judges and they tied round 1. Florian had both his eyes busted by the end of the fight and Aldo had barely a scratch. Given the fact that Florian has been fighting for 10 years - he already fought semi-professionally for years before being on TUF - and has a lot more experience than Aldo, the latter showed how great he is.

And how exactly does  49 - 46 result mean they tied a round genius? You continue to own yourself, and don't give me any BS about a 10 - 8 round either because that would leave the tied round 9 - 9 & throw the math out the window. You genuinely have almost no true knowledge of MMA, everything you gather is likely from wiki, sherdog & MMALive - you attempt to project an image of incredible intellect (though you're the only person that believes it) & yet you probably live off other peoples ideas & opinions in most matters. Back to school little fella, this fighting business isnt for an easily corrupted mind of infantile development. Oh & to make it very clear to you, Florian cruised round.

I was surprised how well Kenny Florian did. I expected Aldo to wipe him out early on. Although maybe more on reputation than from what i've seen of recent fights. Was this just a bad fight for Aldo (though he won it, can a win ever count as a bad fight?) or did Florian step up his game?

I agree but if you are a fighter you are going to do whatever it takes to win the fight ,if you are wrestler and you are getting your ass kicked standing up   you are going to do  what you do best  .
I agree, wrestling is a significant part of the sport.  Training in getting up off your back is probably the most undertrained and underappreciated skill in MMA.  Wrestlers will continue to dominate, more MMA guys need to take wrestling seriously as it can set you up for victory when faced with an opponent who is a fearsome striker.

This is when you know you've out argued Stupid. When he has nothing left to say but "meltdown."

Aldo, is without a doubt the best in his division. But to say he has dominated his opponents in his two outings in the UFC is a stretch. Dominating is Anderson Silva (except Sonnen), Jon Jones, GSP. In all their recent fights they were in complete control of every aspect of the fight. In Silva's case he just toys with them. Aldo lost the first round and the others were very close. I don't remember the last time Silva, Jones or GSP have lost a round. Right now Silva is the most dominate fighter in his division with Jones coming up fast.

BJ Penn "dominated" Florian not Aldo.

José Aldo, the most amazing P4P fghter on the planet. Jon Jones is so lucky that Aldo is only 145 lbs. Anderson Silva said that, if Aldo were 185 lbs, he would retire.

Aldo is undoubtedly the greatest P4P MMA fighter on the planet right now. No one else comes even close. Anderson Silva even said that, if Aldo were fighting at 185 lbs, he would retire. Did you see what he did to Mark Hominick in his last fight? LOLOLOLOL...

P4p doesn't mean shit, Aldo would get steamrolled by JDS, Overeem ect.

Wrong. P4P means "if they had the same number of pounds, who would be the best of them all?" Going by this, a 250 lbs Aldo would steamroll Overeem, JDS, etc. If a 5'5, 145 lbs Overeem were to fight Aldo, who would win?

Its 100% speculation and imaginary, which holds zero weight in reality. P4P is purely for personal amusement and means absolutely nothing in terms of ranking fighters on their significance.

Re: UFC 156 - Jose Aldo vs Frankie Edgar

The bout was billed as a superfight, and it delivered a lot of action. In the end though, UFC featherweight champion Jose Aldo was able to defend his title with a unanimous decision victory over Frankie Edgar. The first two rounds were all Aldo, with leg kicks aplenty and some solid boxing from the champ. The third was when Edgar turned it around a bit, and it seemed that Frankie controlled the second half of the fight. The judges thought Aldo did more though, and gave him all three cards with 49-46, 49-46, and 48-47 scores.

Both men came out speedy as expected, throwing kicks and moving around. Aldo seemed to get Frankie's timing down quickly, sticking the jab in his face and landing two solid right hooks. Edgar wasn't able to connect on much of anything, and didn't go for a takedown. Aldo closed the round with two huge leg kicks, a solid jab, and a head kick that was blocked.

Edgar started to mix it up a little more in round two, going for leg kicks and throwing in sneaky takedown attempts. He was also willing to exchange a little more, but Aldo's length and speed was making it tough for him. Edgar decided to brawl after getting caught with a flying knee and clinched up, but Aldo separated easily. Finally Edgar was able to catch a kick and get a takedown with a solid punch, but Aldo popped right back up. The leg kicks from Aldo were deadly though.

Edgar shot in for a takedown immediately in round three and he almost got it, but Aldo fought it off. Aldo landed a straight kick to the face that made Frankie's nose start to bleed. Edgar was doing his best to try and connect, and landed a couple of combinations and an uppercut up the middle. He was able to catch a couple of kicks as well. Aldo shook off Edgar's takedown attempts easily though, and continued to land his jab well. Edgar closed well, but it didn't seem to be enough to earn him the round.

Frankie landed a few leg kicks early in round four, but ate a spinning back kick in return. Edgar went for another takedown that Aldo fought off, but Edgar landed a punch at least. Edgar finally got a body lock on a retreating Aldo and threw him to the mat, but Aldo popped up again. Edgar stayed glued to Aldo's back and looked for a suplex, but settled for knees to the butt. It was Edgar's best round of the fight to that point.

Edgar stayed with the leg kicks and takedown attampts in the final round, chasing Aldo around the cage at times. But Aldo was right there with solid jabs, right hooks, and counters. Edgar landed a nice combination and a knee. The fighters traded big rights in the pocket with 75 seconds to go. Edgar put together a nice combination, and another. Edgar landed two right hooks late, and Aldo used the cage to propel himself into a "Showtime punch" just before the horn.

Aldo won the fight, he is just more gifted, but I always want Edgar to win, because, although not the most gifted athlete, nobody has more heart and determination than Frankie.  He is just a class act!

Shocked about Overeem, perhaps a little to cocky and underestimated Big Foot and Rashad and Nogueira equally looked like SHIT!  Couldn't even classify that as a fight, more like a casual sparring session, it was an embarrassment!
