2015 NFL Free Agency
« on: March 10, 2015, 01:29:45 PM »
The free agency period has been taken over by a couple of huge trades!

Jimmy Graham and a 4th rounder to the Seahawks for Max Unger and a 1st rounder

Sam Bradford from the Rams to the Eagles for Nick Foles

Haloti Ngata from the Ravens to the Lions for a 4th and 5th

Pretty big trades, usually the NFL is pretty quiet.

Demarco Murray still doesn't have a home yet.

Frank Gore and Andre Johnson to Colts.
Couple of new defensive starters as well.

Wonder if T.Richardson will be out of the league?

Murray was a great signing, but Bradford is a huge risk.

Sad to see Gore leave my Niners.  I like Hyde's potential though.  Tough, downhill runner.

I guess I like the Torrey Smith signing, but I really haven't seen him play much.  Where is guts?  Would like to know what he thinks.

A friend of mine is a Ravens fan so I've seen a number of games. Smith is good but can be inconsistent. At times he has flashes of elite WR and is a big play threat. Hopefully he can put it all together because he got paid with the 9ers.

Good to know.  Thanks.  Sounds like he'll be a better compliment to Boldin and Davis than Crabtree was.

Not liking the Patriots moves so far. They should have let Mccourty go, and kept Revis and Browner.

They don't win the superbowl without Revis and Browner.

Maybe they are gearing up for life after Brady already.

I'm guessing these guys get so big/fast/strong that the injuries are racking up more quickly.  This combined with more awareness/testing of these types of traumas might lead to an increase.

Love watching pro football, but the sport is dangerous.

Geeze Louise.  What do you call Black Monday when it lasts for more than a week?  I guess Justin Smith is next.  Not pretty.

Guts here...new name....

Torrey is one trick pony. He can run the fly route, that's about it. But his speed is nothing to play with if you're on defense. He has an odd running style which prevents him from effectively digging his foot into the ground and making quick cuts. Looks awkward out there sometimes. But he scored 13 touchdowns(including the playoffs) last season so he earned that new contract with the 49ers. That being said, a stand up guy and a great person who is active in the community. Pairing him with Boldin playing underneath should free him up and get him separation on defensive backs. Those two played well together during the Ravens 2012 Superbowl run.

Losing Borland to retirement is huge. Wasn't he supposed to replace Patrick Willis?

New name?  Welcome to the club.   :)

Thanks for the info.  The Niners needed someone who can stretch the field, so sounds like he will be good.  I like Crabtree, but he really underachieved.

Pretty much, although getting Bowman back will help soften the blow a little.  Still, this kid was a stud.  Huge loss.

Meh.  Definitely hurts to lose so many great players all at once, but nobody wins or loses a championship in March.

I would take Crabtree over Torrey Smith any day of the week. Crabtree is very skilled. A change of scenery might help fulfill his potential. Too bad the Ravens can't afford him.

Crabtree is definitely skilled, but as Boldin said, they both run the same kind of routes.  They really don't complement each other very well.  I'd keep Crabtree as a slot, but not as a No. 1 or 2 on SF's offense.
