THANG! I don't know one donut from another, so I can't give you decent donut advice.
But I do know that when Keith (ONLY ME) was in top shape he used to take me to WINCHELL's Donut place near the LA airport at 5:30 in the morning because that's when the freshest donuts came off the donut line.
And I gotta admit that they were damn good tasting donuts.
So if you go, go early!
Ditto for krispy Kreams if they are sitll in business.

THANG, John's a good friend and promotes good shows but you gotta expect to pay $35 for prejudging entry and sit through 300+ contestants.

ADVICE TO TBOMZ..... and some other GetBiggers new to the area
I think every bit of advice (good and bad) that can be made has already been made regarding Bonz' current profession,but here's some more regarding his current physical location.
BOMZ ... get out of the house/motel/hotel and seek adventure. Here's a start. You'll never know who you will be meeting if you take this advice but I can almost guarantee you that if you keep your eyes open, you'll be meeting one o two individuals who will be of importance not to far down the distant lifetime path.
BOMZ ... Get a cheap but decent meal at NORM's before it closes sometime in July of this year. It's on Lincolm Blvd in Santa Monica just a block or so north of the Highway 10 freeway. Hurry cause it's gonna close because the city needs the land for some utility stuff. ( I have no idea what they mean by that.)
BOMZ ... Take your friends to Venice Beach and park your car at the big parking lot just south of the pit($7) and then pay the ten bucks for a workout in the sun and then go north a couple of blocks and grab a beer or two at the place whose name I have forgotten. But you'll find it if you look hard enough about 100 yards north of the weight lifting pit. Tables are in front and you enter on the side with no wait to go into the bar where you can also eat. (I love this place an have been going there for years.)
BOMZ ... After those couple of beers you can walk it off by walking along the beachwalk in the northerly direction for two or so miles to the Santa Monica Pier and see the old Muscle Beach along the way. By then you'll b e thirsty so grab a lenomade at the old red lemonaid stnd before you reach the pier.
BOMZ ... Once you get your lemonade, keep on wlaking north f few yards and you'll pass an old outdoor type bar and eatery. I foeget the name of this place also but go inside and see the photos on the walls of the old Muscle Beach days. See how many you can identify. I bet only two.
BOMZ.... The Venice Pier Merry GO Round is right there. Go inside and take a look at it or may be even ride it for a couple of minutes. Can you name the famous movie it appeared in and can you find the offfice that the movie star used inteh movie.
BOMZ .... Walk to the end of the pier and smell the ocean breeze. It's spectacular from the end of that pier but once it reaches the shoreline it loses most of its flavor. Lean over the railing and be the first to smell it. And also look for the sign on the pier that tells you something interesting which you may have not known before. Most people are surprised by that little known fact.
BOMZ... Take a ride on the Ferris wheel just to let us all know you did it.
BOMB .... Walk back to Venice and try to think of what is all looked like many years ago. You'll be passing Charlie Chaplins beach house and the weekend beach residences of many famous movie stars. You might even see a few, but they are usually hard to recognize when not made up in front of a camera.
BOMZ ..... On your way back check out the original location of Gold's Gym where I paid $34 a year to be a member (could have been $24 but I forget). And then check out the VietNam Memorial Wall listing tons of Lost GI's. placed there through the courtesy of the Gold's Gym guys ... Pete and Ed and Tim, so I'll thank them here personally.
BOMZ... You'll be hungry now so have Bob's Special at the Firehouse and say "Howdy!" to all the pros you see in there (front, bar, and garden areas). Then cross the street to Rose Cafe and see some movie stars who are always there. And then around the corner to Gold's and ask for a Guest Pass. You might get one if you ask politely and look big and powerful and without your Bunny Suit.
CSWOL might help you with that Free Pass request.
BoOMZ.... Then back to the beach to see the sun go down and all the nutty people honoring the sunset with drums of every type known to man and monkey. (I use the monkey ones even though my bro-in-law is a pro drummer and supposedly one of the best on the West Coast.)
Then get in your car and get out of town.
You'll most likely be tired after a ong day. So lite up a joint and get some sleep.

Inglewood has changed. It ain't that bad any more. Lots of latino immigrants set up shop and pushed out the african-americans. Some people questioning if tbombz really moved there, but it's not a horrible place any more and is really close to some gay-friendly places. I'm pretty sure rent is still insanely cheap, though, because of the stigma.

lol that's the one. Got. A 120 dollar room by chance. Had no idea what kind of hotel in What part of town just got the cheapest available thru sum hotel company I found online when getting into town.
After 4 days of LA I decided to head back to Stockton. The people and air quality are both such a turn off down there.

Do you suppose any of the Lakers actually live in Englewood? Just so you know their home court is the Staples Center which is not in Inglewood but near downtown L.A. The Trailblazers home court is at the Memorial Coliseum in Portland, OR. The Coliseum is not in the best neighborhood, although it is primarily commercial and not residential. At least some of the Trailblazers live in West Linn (were I live) and in Lake Oswego, two of the more upscale (and white) suburbs in the Portland Metro area, far removed from where the Coliseum is located.

What....the 1860's and 70's? I am from L.A. I lived there from the very early 1950's until I moved to Portland as an adult in the 1966. Beverly Hills, Bell Aire, Brentwood, Pacific Palisades, Hombly Hills, Encino, Sherman Oaks and Malibu were where "movie stars" took up residence and not in Englewood. Could you be speaking of out of work extras? Beverly Hills was completely built up in the 1960's.

It is a great "keep Portland weird" city. Moved here just before our son was born in 1966, been here ever since. Sometimes I miss the warm beaches in Southern California, particularly during a long rainy spell. But today my yard is lush and green and I haven't had to water yet this spring. You don't get that in L.A. which originally was a desert.
West Linn is upscale, but I can afford my home here. The house I grew up in in Encino, CA is completely beyond my reach financially. The home my wife grew up in in Beverly Hills sold a couple of years ago for $11,000,000 and no, we did not profit from that sale. Her dad sold that house when she was still a teenager.
