On that note, does anyone here recommend bands?

didn't Layne tear his pec using bands on the benchpress. using like 500 pounds with bands.

probably good for powerlifters but also a higher risk for injury since it enables you to use heavier weights than you can really handle.

I do.

Just start off with looser bands and get a feel for it before adding more band tension. I always used them for progressive resistance training on all the power movements.

I seem to remember it was a lighter load, as he was in a hurry and just warming up. I seem to recall 275, but I can't say for sure. No bands that I remember.

Oh that heavy already. I guess he's upping the dosage along the way.

Quote
As you press up the weight gets more and more difficult as the band shortens and the tension becomes reduced. For my working sets I would be starting 545 lbs on the bar. With bands, at the top of the lift the weight was approximately 500 lbs+, at the bottom it was about 375 lbs or so. I had done this weight 3 weeks ago and figured it would be one of my first heavy sets to set me up for possibly putting 565 lbs on the bar.

I stand corrected.
