Stallone isn't impressive except to tiny tits who can't tell the difference-he's a small guy always was, and not a natural athlete either despite the image. He always had all the advantages in the world-free time for personal trainers, drugs and the best nutrition. Big deal.
Not to say it's common, but someone without all those advantages who is in good shape deserves alot more respect.

I see guys in the gym like that, the serious ones in good shape without all of Stallone's huge advantages in money, free time, drugs, etc. With all those major advantages he should actually look better than he does.

Stallone is an example of what almost all men could be if they were given access to HGH and some test in their older years....maybe this should be a requirement by doctors or the government to help men in theeeir older years to stay youthful and healthy....it might cut down on medical expenses with the elderly....

Crisis???? What crisis? The guy is fabulously successful and is in better shape than the vast majority of the population. You can make any psychological arguments that he's insecure, or grossly vain, or compensating for whatever pathology.... The fact is, it's good thing to be rich and fit. After all the alternative is poor and unhealthy. And if you are not happy being rich and fit you are not going to be better off being poor and sick. And by all accounts Stallone seems to be a happy man, he has a great sense of humor and strong sense of self and often pokes fun at himself and the caricature his larger than life inspires.
Arnold use to say that he knew he wasn't normal. That there was something off with him. That he had to be the center of attention and be the leader -- to dominate. He channeled it in a way that made him a living legend and one that will be long remember after people like you and me fade into oblivion.

He's not a bodybuilder. Not everyone strives for a massive physique. In fact, most don't. It just doesn't look good and isn't functional. And you act like he was born with a silver spoon in his mouth. What he accomplished in life he did himself. He was not particularly talented, nor good looking, or even naturally well built (Rocky 1). That's why I respect him and think he's a good example of hard work and determination. He earned what he's achieved.

I have to agree completely, except for the part about him not being a bodybuilder. To me, a bodybuilder is not just someone who competes in a physique competition, just someone who lifts weights to alter their physique. By that definition, he's most certainly a bodybuilder.
Personally, as I've gotten older (36 now), I no longer strive for the most size I can get (I peaked at 214 at 5'9", naturally of course, and am now hovering around 191, which feels and looks much better), but still very much consider myself a bodybuilder. It's all about making the body look the best it can, regardless of out and out mass (and of course dependent upon your personal goals).

Calm down and stop trying to qualify his combo of drugs, plenty of free time, personal trainers and a low-stress life. For decades he's had every single advantage in life.

He DOES have every possible advantage - time, money, resources, experience, etc. - but that doesn't change the fact that he still has to put the effort in and is motivated to keep at it after all these decades, which is a lot more than can be said for many, many others, even those with similar circumstances. When you reach the top and have all the money in the world and everlasting fame and all that, it's very easy to take it easy.
I've personally been working out for 20+ years at this point and don't envision myself ever stopping (it's terribly important to me and helps define part of who I am) and I look to someone like a Stallone - who really doesn't have to keep at it as intensely as he does - as a like-minded individual. For that, I have the utmost respect.
With all that said, I was terribly disappointed when he was busted for "drugs" as I truly hoped he was all natural, but that's more a personal bias/hope from my own beliefs than something I can particularly or specifically knock him for. The guy has inspired me since I was a little kid and continues to do so (loved Rocky Balboa and Rambo and looking forward to this new one). He's one of those guys like an Arnold who is multi-dimensional and again relateable from my personal standpoint as I in turn always strive to improve myself in all ways and am terribly ambitious with what I strive for. To me, that's the greatest way to live one's life along with just being a generally good person and putting your family first.

My deep admiration to anyone older that can stay in great shape and be natural. However, I find it no longer cheating or significantly less respectable when guys 40+ are using HRT to replace their hormones to youthful levels.
It is incredibly hard to keep the weight off the abdomen for most people when they get older and being plagued with prolonged soreness, injuries and delayed healing is no fun. HRT does help all these sx. Some guys obviously take it too far but docs are much better about that these days.

And that's really what surprised me about this thread. He's not god, he's not Arnold. But he is indeed exceptional. The ones here critical of him, those who will never ever achieve a fraction what he's accomplish, is totally lost on me. Give the man his props. What more can he possibly do and achieve? He should serve as an inspiration. That's not ball hugging. It's inspiring a guy who thinks that he's getting too old and should just give up to say, "Hell look at Sly. Look at Chuck Norris. Could be better, if that was his top priority in life and all he wanted to do was have his life revolve around his looks and fitness. But then he wouldn't have achieved what he has acived. He probably grew up with less advantages than you did (just going by the odds. If you grew up dirt poor my apologies). He grew up poor in a rough neigborhood. Didn't go to college. Lived hand to mouth for a long time.

Exactly. For some reason people assume that if a person has money and fame that they are devoid of stress and problems.
I have often heard people assert that Stallone is lacking talent due to only having two well known characters in his career. For starters, the two characters, Rocky and Rambo, are not just well known, but iconic. Very few actors are fortunate enough to have one character in their careers whose name continues to resonate with moviegoers years later, let alone two. A lot of actors have good performances in fine movies, but the average person would fail to be able to refer to their character by name. Who doesn't know Rocky and Rambo? And although Sly's career was predominantly spent in the action genre, people forget that he was initially referred to being the next Brando during the early part of his career. High praise, which surely was based on some sort of talent.
What is truly ironic though, are those posting on a bodybuilding board that would find issue with a 62 year old man on HRT.

Heywood, how old are you? I suppose you can't understand until you get older.
I am not there yet either but I see tons of guys who were just like us in their 20s and 30s and lived a life where weightlifting, sports and being in good shape are very important to them, it is part of who they are. No matter how hard they lift or diet, when they get into their 50s and 60s, they can't keep the fat off, have more joint pains, more injuries that take longer to heal, can't keep their lean muscle, get the blues, don't have the sex drive they used to. What should we tell these guys....tough shit, your old now. F that. Properly physician monitored HRT helps these guys greatly. Its not vain to want to live their life the best they can as they age.
I used to be against any hormone use until I got into medicine. I am still against steroid abuse and totally against kids using anabolics but HRT is completely different. It helps preserve quality of life and is safe if done responsibly. When I get to that age and hormones drop, I have no more shame in admitting I'll be there as well.

his longevity in hollwood deserves praise, as for accomplishment he was nominated for an Oscar for best actor in Rocky and did win a Oscar for best film..

I guess because you are young and have limited life experience, you can be cut slack...but you are way off this time. Let's look at what he's accomplished, First of all, at the brink of failure and totally broke he writes the screenplay to Rocky. He's offered a fortune by the studios to sell it but they want someone else to play the part. He refuses. He's broke, but he turns down hundreds of thousands of dollars to sell the script unless he can play the part. Epic Balls, right there. The film wins him an Oscar. Major accomplishment number one. He becomes a millionaire overnight. He scores again with the Rambo films and in Rambo part 2, starts getting shredded. Yeah, he's not big like your drug overdosesd freaks but unlike the bodybuilders who are in shape a couple days out of the year, he has the discipline to stay shredded while filming for 6 months straight and he does it again and again. Please post one pic of yourself looking as good as Stallone does in Rambo part 3. You can't. And you probably never will. No work ethic? Ridiculous. And now in his 60's, he' still in shape and people are still seeing his films after 30 freaking years. So artistically, he's written, directed and starred in box office smashes...physically he's maintained a great physique for 30 years or more,, for long periods of time while spending 10 hours a day on a movie set. Ultimate discipline..much more than yourself shooting grams a week of juice to look like your average Permabulker. Give credit where it's due.

Heywood, how old are you? I suppose you can't understand until you get older.
I am not there yet either but I see tons of guys who were just like us in their 20s and 30s and lived a life where weightlifting, sports and being in good shape are very important to them, it is part of who they are. No matter how hard they lift or diet, when they get into their 50s and 60s, they can't keep the fat off, have more joint pains, more injuries that take longer to heal, can't keep their lean muscle, get the blues, don't have the sex drive they used to. What should we tell these guys....tough shit, your old now. F that. Properly physician monitored HRT helps these guys greatly. Its not vain to want to live their life the best they can as they age.
I used to be against any hormone use until I got into medicine. I am still against steroid abuse and totally against kids using anabolics but HRT is completely different. It helps preserve quality of life and is safe if done responsibly. When I get to that age and hormones drop, I have no more shame in admitting I'll be there as well.

A lot of my friends in their 50s and 60s like that.
But I am lucky and can train regularly and as a natural bber ,even though with joint & spinal pains.
