Signed,

We all know it will happen eventually.  Why not announce it now?

probably the same reason why Hilary/Romney or Huckabee aren't announcing now.

What are they supposed to do?  Campaign for the next four years while we have a brand new POTUS?

Do you think Hillary will try again? Somehow I don't.

Romney is a sure bet I think for 2012, and I think Palin will end up as well.

right now my guess would be no (re: Hilary)

I don't think any potential candidate has made any decision at this point

I don't count Palin in that group of potential candidates

Hilary will not run in 2012, she's not going to run against someone in her own party who already holds the spot...that's not how presidential elections work. There won't even be a democratic primary in 2012. They will hold their convention as they always do and announce Obama as the candidate. That's how it's pretty much always worked in presidential elections.

2012 GOP ticket:

Romney
Gingrich
Huckabee

Those three are pretty safe bets. Palin, hard to say right now, she will more then likely focus on the Senate seat that will be open next year. If she succeeds and she probably will, then maybe the presidential race in 2012.

Romney is a Mormon.  Forget about his candidacy.  He was rejected by the Religious Right once before, and will be again.

Palin very well could run in 2012.  Dems would be pleased and would guarantee many more years of Democratic majority power.

The Republican Party is pretty much dead in the water right now.  It can either go further to the Left or start espousing a hardline Nationalist slant.

I'm not saying Gingrich is the right or wrong man for the job, just that he will more then likely be on the ticket. He is still one of the more popular members of the GOP, he has gained even more popularity in the past year.

Many republicans still view him as the right guy on the right. He pulled off one of the biggest swings in U.S. history in 94 and most in the GOP haven't forgotten that.

Palin, still to early to tell...the next year or so will make or break her.

Romney is the front-runner, but the religious right won't accept him.  He will need to win that base in order to head that ticket.

Palin is a joke, to put it bluntly and she will be nothing more than a Republican fundraiser or Senator on the national stage.

Her political career in terms of Presidential politics was over before it began.

These stories coming out of the McCain campaign pretty much support what I thought about her all along.

This country's obsession with "average" scares me.

When people like Bush and Palin slip through the cracks and rise to power remind me just how far we've fallen.

Obama is the best the country has to offer.

Palin is the worst.....   ::)

And what is it that you do that is so extraordinary?

I know more about politics than Palin ever did........

The difference is, I'm too honest to be a politician and I use copious amounts of AAS, which preclude me from ever entering politics.

I'm smart enought to know that I wouldn't be successful in politics.

Palin isn't, hence "average".

McCain's own people called her and her husband "hillbillies raiding Niemen Marcus from coast to coast.....".

That's enough for me.

You use, in your own words, "copious amounts of AAS" and label yourself to know more than Palin did about politics?

Come on now... let's not be ridiculous. Not knowing Africa is a continent doesn't mean Palin is a bad politician. She was running for the second most powerful position in the US government and you think you're better versed in politics?

He really is a giant among mice as far as brainpower is concerned on most issues.

He would destroy ZERO royally in a debate.

I agree, however, most morons dont want to hear someone like him who speaks the truth on many issues.

I just wish he would be allowed to debate ZERO.  It would have been a massacre on every level and on every issue.

Gingrich made a really disturbing statement in 2006 about the need to curtail free speech.

He was also an extremely divisive figure in the House and was ultimately run out of Washington by his own party

He's got a few personal issues that some people might not like

I seriously doubt he would have enough support for a serious run in 2012

If Sarah Palin spends the next two years brushing up on the details of issues like the Judiciary and Foreign Policy she will be a force of nature without having McCain and the other hacks in DC holding her back.  Even in her latest interviews, she said that the McCain campaign held her back and would not let her be herself.

I also like Jindel.

Completely agree about Palin.  I watched portions of her at the Republican governor's conference this morning.  She's excellent.

I really don't know anything about Jindel, but he looks good on paper.  I'd like to hear more about him.

She did a great job.  She is exactly what Washington needs.

I'm not surprised you find it weird.

It is truly weird that she was elected to the city council, mayor, and governor.  Weird that she had a 90 percent approval rating.  Weird that she was voted as the most popular governor in America by her peers.

Think of it like being an atheist in a country where 80 or 90 percent of the people believe in God, and you're part of the 10 percent or less who does not.  I guess we could call atheists weird in that instance.

In this instance, it's pretty juvenile to think anyone who likes Palin is "weird," for the reasons I've already stated.  She's not going anywhere.  She'll be a major player in the Republican party.  And she'll probably continue to do an excellent job leaning her state as governor, or serving the country as senator.

you don't just like her... you think she's excellent which is an opinion not shared by many people even among her supporters

Did you see that press conference today?  I've never seen a person talk so much while saying nothing.   She was mercifully pushed aside after only 4 or 5 questions.

Regardless if Palin is excellent or not, regardless if she is smart has leadership qualities or not, saying that the view of her being excellent is not shared by her supporters is kind of ridiculous. She has the highest approval rating of anyone in the GOP, every poll shows that she is more popular in the GOP then anyone else. Whether or not she be a contender in 2012 is impossible to say, but she is as of now the most desired person in the GOP for that spot. Rasmussen has her at 70%

She'll be irrelevant in 2012.  She's great for ratings now... but how many people donated big $ in 2008, only to watch the perception of her sink the campaign?  She might be a great leader, etc, but is she REALLY better prepared for the job than

I admit the Couric interview was not good.  However, she was literally plucked from Alaska with no preparation for all of this.  She has not spent time pondering esoteric things like supreme court decisions she disagrees with.  She has been running a state and does not spend time of those things.  She has spent time on things like energy, budgets, etc, something ZERO has never done in his life.

ZERO, without his teleprompter, is literally unlistenable in an interview situation.  Not only does he speak in circles, but never tells the truth about anything.

William Ayers came out today and refuted the lies ZERO told and said the Obamas are family friends.  It also came out that he admited earlier to having gone to Re. Wright church weekly when he said he never heard anything.

ZERO is simply a well spoken liar who knows how to say a lot of words without saying a damn thing of substance or meaning.  His first press conference was evidence of that.

I didn't know it was a secret that Obama was an extreme leftist? I thought this was pretty common knowledge, across the board.

You know they're are several neutral/bipartisan outlets out there that rank each senator every year according to how liberal or conservative they are based on their voting record. In 2007 Obama had the most liberal voting record of any U.S. senator, therefore making him the senator who was furthest to the left...more then Kennedy, more then Reid, more then Pulosi or anyone else on the left.
