Palumbo thinks BCAAs are  scam.  Said that you get enough with just whey protein

I think BCAA's are beneficial for the dieting bodybuilder.

When used pre-cardio, post-cardio and in between meals they can potentially keep one from becomming catabolic. It doesn't hurt but may not be mandatory.

I’ve experienced a noticeable improvement since consuming 5g of BCAA’s pre, and another 5g with carbs intra-workout.

That’s a DonkeyKong tip recommended to me, and has worked quite well.

I’ll also down about 5g BCAA’s first thing in the morning if I know I’m not going to eat my first meal for at least 1 hr.

I've noticed more results from spending the money I'd spend on BCAA and buying a higher quality protein. BCAA can be expensive!!!!

Yeah BCAA's can be expensive, but the Leucine is really useful. BCAA's during workout, 10-20 gms if you can afford it can show significant results. I know people who just buy leucine and mix it with waxy maize and take it to their workout. Works out as a more cost effective option.

BCAA's are great, especially in overtrained athletes.  Flavor wise, xtend is incredible.  Raw powders will be your cheapest option otherwise.  The raw powder just taste horrible.  There is a study that is to be presented this summer with actually weight trained athletes using bcaa, will be curious to see the full presentation.
