This stupid way of "speaking" has been around for many years.  The terms, "I'm like..." and "I'm all..." are enough to make a genuine adult with a high school diploma from the 70s sick.

People are ignorant and growing more so each day.  Between this and that ignorant brand of ghetto talk that so permeates society like a diseased zeitgeist it is easy to see that what has happened "overnight" is World War Stupid.

Youngsters seek for their identities, and the media provides them 'cool' role models in all flavors. This phenomenon is already going on for over 50 years... Elvis, Beatles, Stones, Marlon Brando, Marilyn Monroe, etc were the first ones.

The "like" phenomenon is definitely new, I find its teen girls who say it the most.
I blame those Kardashians.

If everyone around you speaks one way and with the same accent, how long before your mind picks up on it and unconsciously follows suit?

I am totally outraged about young people doing stuff and things! They are getting all up in my face with their portable Victrola telephonic units and saying stuff I don't understand and they took Walter Cronkite off to make room for "youtube" and that other guy and they even don't properly utilize the language!

We were never like that when I was a teenager! Sure we had rock'n'roll but that was good music and totally non-controversial. The Beatles, Jimi Hendrix, stuff like that. Awesome stuff.

Where's my mild farina dangnabbit? Matlock is about to start.

I do agree that most young kids speak horribly.

Here's a thing. Over the past 10 years I've taken my kids to Disneyland in Orlando a couple of times. Last year I noticed that all the guys who work in clothes shops had started talking with gay lisping tones. It wasn't like this 10 years ago. A lot of the waiters were speaking like this too.  Mincing, gay hand movements and sounding like Julian Clary. Walking about with their buttocks clenched, legs only moving from knees down, wrists at 90 degrees. When the hell did this start. Thankfully it hasn't spread to Scotland yet.

Has everyone under 25 become gay in Florida or is it some sort of fashion thing?   ???

I wrote a chapter in my book and a few articles about the degeneration of the spoken as well as written language. It is very sad

When people say "jel" instead of jelous.
They deserve a punch to the throat.

I'm from South Texas so I also hate when Mexicans refer to their kids as "Mom" and "Dad".

I also loathe when women use "papi"...."aye papi".

ebonics... creating false idols in music film and sports that talk ebonics and kids emulate them trying to be cool, valley girl, texting etc

we will be speaking a whole other language soon enough..then, today's kids will become adults and what nobody will be albe to read and understand old stuff. .much like we cannot read dead languages let alone comprehend what was left behind
