from what ive read hillary got the most votes. isnt this what matters in most countries over the world? that every individual vote counts.
-
If only total votes counted then the candidates would spend all their time in California and large cities, ignoring the bulk of the country, and only pandering to the views of the people in a few select large metropolitan areas
-
guess there's a point in that.
still, one would think that each and every vote should count.
-
The UK has a similar process to the US. It makes it almost impossible for any party outside the major two to make any significant impact - even if they were to win many votes.
-

Doison nailed it but I'll add a bit from another thread:
It's an idiotic argument because the candidates weren't trying to win the Popular vote. It they were, they would've done all their campaigning in NY, CA & TX.
It's like saying that the Indians should've won the World Series because they scored more total runs than the Cubs.
-

This^^^If it was just a vote total, there would be a much easier direct path to the Presidency. The "fly over" States would become obsolete and die off because they wouldn't have the funding. When large amounts of people are in the same area, it's easy to manipulate those people politically. It's why large cities are always liberal. Poor people move to the big cities because it's easier to live and eat there. Basically creating liberal cess pools of shit around every corner...
-
Popular vote doesn't guarantee Presidency.
-
lol, so then it's a rigged system. You just need to win certain states, but dumb that nebraska splits their votes where most states are all or nothing. It would be better represented if all states gave a percentage of the electoral vote to represent the votes.
Take away Cali, NY and NY and Hillary did fuck all. She ran a shitty campaign.
Her slogan "I'm with her" was so self centered. All about her. Fuck her.
-

It's a poker game. You can win with different hands. In elections these hands are called paths to victory.

Yeah, giving a whole state and say 34 votes to someone when they won 49.7% to 49.6% is dumb. So the vote of those that lost by .1% is just thrown out? Shouldn't they split the 34 votes? Would make more sense and representative.

ITS CRAZY YOU WAIT ALL NIGHT TO SEE ELECTORAL 274 AS THE WINNER ALL OTHER #'S ARE FLUFF..

rightfully so, most(all) of those states are shit.

Let's see how long you have country if you neglect those "shit" flyover states
-
Apparently, some people are still in stage one. Don't worry. It will pass.

Close to 120 million votes and she had about 150000 more. Very close.
-
Just mean more losers
-
Did Hillary really win the popular vote? I don't believe that.
According to this map
https://www.yahoo.com/news/elections
Once Trump reached and passed the 270 electoral vote mark, they stopped counting. Unless I'm missing something, it looks like they didn't finish counting votes in NH, MI and AZ. Trump was winning MI and AZ.
-

most of those states are massive welfare recipients and cant match the gdp of ny+cali. i imagine the country would be a lot better off
-
The large populations of a few states do not represent the entire country

Not true. She only got 5 million from Cali. That's 10% of her total. All of the states matter to win the popular vote.
-
Had the race been decided by popular vote, what is the evidence that Trump wouldn't have adopted a successful strategy for that type of race?
Saying that Trump didn't do something that he wasn't trying to do falls into the category of pathetic excuse making that is one of the hallmarks of Liberalism.
-
rightfully so, most(all) of those states are shit.
The shitty States are the ones with the most people. It's where all the crime comes from. The haves and the have nots live in those areas.
-

Yes on the numbers alone it makes sense who gets most votes wins.
That's not how it works though.
I agree it's kinda odd.

Point being if voting was set up by popular vote only, America would completely change. There would be 4 or 5 highly populated areas and then nothing.

The electoral votes should remain the same except that the votes get split based on percentage and the winner of the state gets a +1.
So if Cali had 50 votes and the candidates had 48.6% vs. 48.2% then both get 25 but the winner gets 26 votes. This way the population is still represented and the spread is even across the country.

It's to prevent the United States of California and New York.
Either way, it doesn't matter, if popular vote was the game, campaigns would have been run differently, ad-buys radically different, turn-outs would have been very different in safe states, and so on. All that would have a far larger effect than the razor-thin margin you say she "won" on.
-

Yeah take away NY two times.

I didn't say she won.
In fact I hate the horrible vile bitch
& am very pleased Donald won.
As you and others have stated if it had been an election by most
Votes it would have been targeted & campaigned differently.
My point again is just looking at total votes if she did get more votes
It can appear odd.
Who cares Trump won - and hopefully she will just Fcuk off.

I wasn't implying you thought that, was just expanding on your comment of the weirdness of EC.
I think she will go away.

Can someone tell Generation Snowflake that you dont fill the street around the country with protests the day after your vote lost
grow a fucking pair
WTF?
How is this even tolerated from these retards?
Can we just carpet bomb these millennial fuckers protesting around the country in the streets right now?

What exactly are they protesting? Hillary conceded. It's not as though she's claiming foul.

I recall the moaning and groaning for a popular vote from Democrats after the 2000 election. If they wanted to amend the constitution they had two years to do so - 2009-2011.
Some states want to bypass an amendment and have signed on to the National Popular Vote Interstate Compact, but not enough states have committed.
-
This race will end Trump 306 to Hillary 232. The Bush Gore election was 271/267. Whole different ballgame.
-
I haven't looked at the numbers, but I would guess the vote totals are largely impacted by the margin in California.

Los Angeles County gave her 1.1 million votes in the popular vote alone.
LA doesn't speak for the rest of the country. Thank god for the electoral college.

Apparently, getting the most votes isn't that important. Otherwise, Hillary would've been in the White House sitting next to Obama, and not Trump.
-

That would still disenfranchise rural areas and most red states. Winner-take-all works better for the EC, because it makes the politicians work and sweat much more.
The razor-thin margins by which Trump won Michigan, Pennsylvania, and Florida told the whole tale.
-

It does. But, that only applies in each state. It's the winner-take-all aspect of the Electoral College that makes every vote count.
No matter what the margin is, it's winner-take-all. Trump squeaked out wins in the midwest by a less than a point.

CNN predicts Trump will have the most votes. HAHAHAHAHAHA

so you're putting your trust in CNN?
-
so you're putting your trust in CNN?
It means that he really won by even more than they say.
Kinda like with the polls that had Hillary winning by small margin.
Their lies have to be in the range of plausibility.
-
so you're putting your trust in CNN?
If CNN has to begrudgingly admit, there must be truth to it. Usually they lie, lie and lie again. hahahahahahaha
-
so you're putting your trust in CNN?
You had to have that explained why he posted that, haha.
-
well looks like CNN will be wrong again.
-
Hillary was supposed to CRUSH Trump and landslide remember? A few weeks ago they werre talking about running up the score just to get a large mandate - now they are making excuses.
-
CNN's final poll of polls before election day had Clinton up by 3 points.
And she'll probably end up winning the pop vote by 1 point something.

First of all, not all of the votes are counted. Even here in California, there are still absentee and provisional votes that never were counted, and won't be.
But a person said it pretty clear this morning on the new regarding the Popular Vote vs the Electoral Vote. Say it is the World Series, and you have 7 games, and one team wins only 3 games, but scores 50 runs, while the other team only scores 40 runs, should the team that scored 50 runs win?
-

I think the biggest thing that happened other than complete ignorance of the Rust Belt was Comey's October Surprise. That really fucked up Hillary bad and being cleared of it 2 days before Election day was just classy.
But seriously, someone out there really didn't want her to win. Entire DNC emails hacked, Wikileaks, etc. Hillary could honestly make an argument that the election was rigged at her expense but at the end of the day, she has no-one to blame except herself.

Good to hear you chime in Ron. The Popular vote BS is not to be taken seriously.
If Trump ends up winning, the same people will claim that it's not a mandate because the popular vote was so close.
Moreover, if you take out all the illegals and dead people who voted, Trump wins the popular easily.

She is not cleared of anything Vince. They are still collecting evidence with the email issue, meanwhile 5 FBI field offices are investigating the Clinton Foundation which will bring her down hard.
Comey's letter is not a letter that cleared anything. All cases are still open.

What makes you say that?
I think that all valid ballots are counted. Counties do not stop processing ballots just because a winner has been declared or a campaign has conceded.
