I like shredding, when it's done with style and musicality (is that a word?) Ty Tabor of king's X can shred like a mofo...but it sounds cool and is interesting to listen to....it's not just "look at how technical i am ".You listen to his solos and you know it's him...he has a distinct voice. these guys all sound the same "widdlywiddlywiddlywiddly widdlywiddlywiddlywiddly waaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhh"..12 times in a row.I am sure if you are a musician you see it in a whole different light because it is so hard to do...and i do respect the talent...just not my bag
and then there is buckethead...bench
Buckethead is the shit.
you know buckethead is paul gilbert?....right...bench
Yeah I dig the technical stuff myself because that's how I like to play, BUT, it should still be musical imo. Not just wanking for the sake of wanking. Tony MacAlpine is great at writing catchy songs with awesome playing. Ty Tabor and Vernon Reid were big influences of mine around the early 90's. Haven't listened to much of either lately though.Paul G ain't Buckethead either.
I'll check out that Macalpine dude.
Hahaha....you beat me to it dyslexic!
Some many guitar players.Great Love to hear how you improvise over some nice backing track.Ability to improvise and make something up as you play is one of the greatest things in music.
even tho improvisation is very important in certain types of music. I believe many things hold more weight. Song writers really don't need to improvise. That's like saying freestyle rap is better then written rap. 2Pac one of the greatest rappers in the world and he couldn't freestyle out of a paper bag.
LOL @ the term "great rapper"...that's like saying he's a "great garbageman".This thread is about real musicians....
I've been working on a lot of country guitar lately. any of you guys ever listen to brad paisley play? that guy is unreal. he combines hybrind picking, jazz, metal, fusion... and makes it all sound country. that guy has been blowing my mind lately.
Most ridiculously amazing guitar song ever... EVER..
Thought it was Yngwie with all the arpeggios and distortion... it was the excess delay that threw me for a second. Oh well. Cloned solos are cool too.
here's my solo hope you like it
