As a grown man you are allowed to indulge in any of this shit that you want, comic books, sci fi movies, zombies, vampires, whatever -- as long as you are getting pussy and dollars.  The minute this shit distracts you from getting paid or laid, i.e., fantasy takes you out of the real world and is an anesthetizing distraction from getting things done it needs to stop.

It is hard to believe you are really this clueless.  As HavoX pointed out, many of these titles have been published for more than 40 years.  That’s probably more years than you have been alive.  That is a lot stories; they represent a long history of readers and generations of readers.  Newsflash: a lot more people are interested in the comic/superhero genre than in bodybuilding.

Here you are poking around the “fringe/cult” thing of bodybuilding, but how many bodybuilding films can you name beyond pumping I, II and Generation Iron?  If those movies made a lot of money at the box office there would be a whole genre of them.  There aren’t.  People aren’t interested despite the fact that bodybuilding has also been around for a long time.  Just one or two of these movies has generated more interest and income than all of bodybuilding has in its entire history.  As entertaining and distracting as super powers can be (none in the case of Batman) the genre is really about explorations of humanity: what we value and why.  What we prioritize and why.  The choices we make and why.  Typically, these stories are focused on young people because young people are still in the throes of trying to figure out what life is all about.  That experience (or the memory of that experience) is something huge swaths of the “general public” identifies with.  If you don’t get it… well, there are probably a lot of other things that you don’t get. ::)

An interest in comics has been a rite of passage for literally millions of young people.  As for why these movies have taken off now.  Technology in the film business has only now gotten to the point when special effects folks can represent these characters and manifest their powers in ways that are compelling on screen.  There were early live action versions of films like Fantastic Four.  But the special effects were so bad most of those films were never distributed and/or they made no money.

Are there new or random characters?  Sure, but some of these characters that you think of as random probably have a longer history than you do.  If you are not interested so be it.  You can always go watch Pumping Iron again. 8)

Absolutely. My friends and I were all avid comic collectors during our youth in the 70's and 80's.

To clarify, I wasn't belittling the history of this stuff, or by proxy saying there wasn't a crowd who was into it, I just fail to see the logical translation to megabucks in 2015. Pick some random second-stringer comic book hero that nobody but die-hards remember, make a movie; all of a sudden its some huge massive thing. And that stretches far beyond the older crowd who grew up with this stuff decades ago. I get that it is trendy/cool to be "nerdy" and "different" nowadays but there is no way that alone mitigates the cognitive dissonance (well, I perceive it as that). I also have no idea why you are propping bodybuilding up as some sort of strawman contrast when few here argue that it is anything but fringe/cult/abstruse nomenclature. I also find your tone confrontational, condescending, and downright rude since I was not only legitimately curious, my question was already sufficiently answered pursuant to my second post in this thread!

Yep. But unfortunately, the latter occurs.

I'm not sure why all the hostility towards Jennifer Lawrence.  Here we have a Hollywood actress who, out of the kindness of her heart, took time out of he busy schedule to show us all her delicate little pink asshole.  She won me over with that act of kindness and generosity.  We should be celebrating this young lady, not bashing her.

I got that picture, but it would be removed by mods.

The rumor is that the fingers belong to the kid who plays Beast in these films. They used to date during (and after) making X-Men: First Class.

Fight footage is inferior to Blade and looks like "C" movie action.  Plus it will be a 90 min fuck fest of cornball jokes. I'll pass!  A rap song in a trailer is the least of its' problems.

I am a huge fan of Apocalypse and that trailer looks cheesy as fuck, the costume reminds me of the joker and penquin from the adam west batman days.

why couldn't they use CGI for the Apocalypse like they did with the Hulk character so many times.......this Apocalypse sound like a F.ag, his voice suppose to scare you...what a fucking joke this movie is

The marvel-heroes have been around for a while, x-men for example first appeared in the early 60s.

Yes, very true. I also  believe, if I'm not mistaken, that the xmen franchise has been around since the 1960's. What do you think?

I would have gone with the version minus the collar, which I think is the real issue with his costume.  As noted, the voice is all wrong for the character.  Is this Singer's 3rd movie? I'm thinking matrix 3 and dark knight 3. you should cut a director after two installments.

Fourth.

X-Men
X2: X-Men United
X-Men: Days of Future Past
X-Men: Apocalypse

He got into it with 20th Century Fox movie chief Tom Rothman.

He went and jumped ship to go to Warner Bros. to make Superman Returns. In the interim, Fox hired loser Brett Ratner to direct the third movie - X-Men: The Last Stand.  >:(

Everything good from the first two got ruined, namely the whole Dark Phoenix storyline. >:(

The last X-men movie was horrible. I'm guessing this one won't be much better. It's probably a set-up for a Deadpool/Cable/X-Factor movie to finally deal with Apocalypse.
