Now I'm no fan of gay pride parades in general. Not until I see a straight pride parade anyway. My disdain for them stems from growing up in NYC and seeing the cluster fuck of a display every June during the NYC gay Pride Parades over the years. Sure--tons of hot guys...but I knew it was pure debauchery at the very least. Kinda seemed like an excuse for public nudity. As a younger guy it was FUCKING great.
As I grew older I kinda stopped going.
Anywho..
Fast forward a few years and now I live in Las Vegas where the pride parade is much much smaller and the lewd public acts are tamed down quite a bit.
To me--it's a little more acceptable to shine a light on the advancement of acceptance (without seeing a leather clad guy in a booth shoing you how to properly fist a guy.

It's almost that time of year again here in Sin City.
Our gay pride parade is in October.

Many parades and celebrations are over-the-top. Carnival in Rio is wild or so I gather from the videos. Mardi gras in New Orleans is hardly tame. Some videos from the Folsom Street Fair are cringe worthy. In Oregon, there is the Oregon Country Fair which is sort of like Burning Man, only in the woods instead of the desert. People like to have fun, cut loose and do crazy shit every once in a while. This is certainly a lot better than demonstrating bigotry and hate.
