Superman is the standard to which all other superheroes are measured by. His tales of heroics and high adventure have inspired people and pop-culture for generations. Appearing in thousands upon thousands of comic books around the world, Superman has become more than a icon, he has become a symbol of hope and dedication. For the first time ever, I rank his 5 greatest battles ever that tested his heart and defined him into the hero that he is.

Cool post - I always look forward to these.
I never heard of The Elite before - sounds like a cool run.
The Avengers/JLA crossover still irritates me. First - I don't think Thor should have lost to Supes. But if Supes had to win (because he's THE icon), I would have written him having a shattered hand and being so beaten down after the fight with Thor and the subsequent Avengers rumble that he remained unconscious for a goodly while afterwards.
Thor on the other hand would have woken up immediately, shaken his head and headed straight back into battle (with a pic of Supes lying unconscious in the background ;))

superman was a gay boy or else he would have been hitting that reporter chick 24/7
oogling fake men in tights makes you as much of a schmoe as any of the bobybuilding 'fans' on this board

I have all but number 5 (stopped caring around 2001) and the Mongul story is awesome. Kingdom come is also incredible. Mark Waid is the best Superhero writer i've read i have his whole Flash run.
I tried to go back and fill gaps in my collections a few years ago and i couldn't even read any Superhero stories properly. I found them too boring. Shame i'm not so young anymore.

No he had a too christian (almost mormon-ish) upbringing, that's what ruined him.
If he'd been raised in Southern California instead, he'd be flying around stealing Watermelons and KFC instead, wearing bling and a blue jumpsuit with a kangolhat.

Looks like Obama arrested Superman in the new movie

I look at this poster and I'm not even intrigued as to how the Man of Steel has come to be bound by handcuffs - I just think - "That's dumb".

Yes the fact that those hand cuffs are not made of Kryptonite shows that superman has given into bureaucratic politics

MAN OF STEEL Visual Effects Supervisor On Reinventing Superman For Today's Audience
There's not a whole lot here really, but it is interesting to hear what the man in charge of visualizing the characters from Zack Snyder's upcoming reboot has to say about bringing something new to the table for a modern audience. He says we can expect to be taken into "new" but "comfortable" territory, and this take on Superman will be "different but in a very familiar way"..

Honestly, I hate this reboot. Superman and DC for that matter suck today...
