Does anybody keep ready to drink protien in the fridge
« on: October 03, 2006, 04:57:54 PM »
I don't mean the individually packaged stuff, I am talking about taking a 1 gallon plastic container that you would normally put juice or water in.  And fixing it with your protien / creatine / glutamin so all you have to do is shake and swig every few hours.  Or would this be bad for the protien or creatine to have it sit in fluids all day.

i think the creatine will become deactivated within the first 20 minutes... it will convert to creanine... beyond that i think you will denature the whey by letting it sit in water... i don't have an evidence for this but it just seems pretty lazy to me... just scoop, shake and slurp

It makes perfect sense. Take a Gallon container, and add about 10 scoops of Whey to it, add your other supplements ( glutamin, other magic powders, Then shake and refrigerate.  Drink all throughout the day, getting the 200 grams of protien, and water to promote growth.  If this wouldn't work let me know.

The only problem I see is that glutamine is unstable in water.  About one month ago, someone else on the board was kind enough to point me to a study which confirms this,

I would just mix up all the dry ingredients and add water on an as needed basis.

I don't believe the whey sitting in water will denature the protein, but whey protein is quite sensitive to long term exposures to acidic environments, I would just suggest not using it in some fruit juice. I'm with princess on this one and usually use on needed basis  ;)

Another one over here,

shake once, fill up a 2-litre bottle (slightly more than half a gallon), drink during day, a glass in the morning , a glass before training, a glass after training, the remaining before sleeping. (I use a big beer glass btw ;D )
( I also ad malto-dextrine, ideal in the morning, ideal for training, ideal for sleeping).
