Title: Don't listen to Anssi Mannimen claims on Muscletech- has a hidden agenda
Post by: Melvin Goodrum on March 17, 2008, 09:42:08 AM
On an original post, Anssi blasted Muscletech for their deceptive advertising and I agreed with him on some points that the ingredient list was very confusing and could make someone believe there was some high tech products in it.

However, I've come to learn that Muscletech may have recently pulled all advertising from their MD.  This has problably put a huge dent in the MD budget as no one ran more ads than Muscletech.  I believe that Blechman has allegedly tried to strike back at Muscletech and is using one of his workers...namely Anssi to smear their name on the message boards.

Anssi, you're a piece of shit for pulling this kind of corporate stunt and I knew that something was up about you spamming multiple boards with this.  This will most likely result in a possible lawsuit from Iovate for this.

This doesn't mean that like Muscletech but I think that it should be decided by an UNBIASED PARTY AS TO WHETHER THEY ARE RUNNING FALSE ADS

Which part is "complete" BS?

Did Muscletech pull all their advertising from MD - Yes or No?

(Remember your credibility hinges on this answer - we can easily check in a month if you deny it)

A co-worker gave me a copy of this month's MD, with NPC National Champion, Evan Centopani, on the cover. And, I saw MuscleTech ads a-plenty in that one.

they run 6 weeks behind.

If a decision was made this week to pull advertising (prompting Blechman to send his employees to bash them in a proxy war) we couldn't know until next month at the earliest.

Yes, multiple board.  I can start with 2 for starter.  This one and of course MD.com.  Even just 2 boards is multiple.  You also post under an assumed name on BB.com because a similar post is up there too.

it would reflect poorly on MD, Matt C.

You see, it would mean that they knew of the false advertising all along.   They pulled the trigger and released this info, once MT upset them.

Anssi knew all along - so did MD.   They ran the ad they knew was false.  Monster integrity. Now they want to play the 'high road' card.

If the answer is YES, then you knew ALL ALONG the advertising was false, and only released this info once you were no longer making $ from it.   You can't take money from the devil for a year, then turn him in once the checks stop coming.

It doesn't make any difference if he's right.  The problem is that he's not doing this out of the good of his heart or to look out for fellow lifters.

I've only heard from a source that Muscletech may pulled their advertising from MD but I cannot confirm it and it would be a couple of months before it could even be verified.

However Anssi would know....DID MUSCLETECH RECENTLY PULL ADVERTISING FROM MD??????  Because I found it quite odd that an employee of Muscular Development would bash a company that is the biggest corporate sponsor of ads in MD itself.

Anssi does go under different names however it could be other MD employees or just the usual people.  I honestly don't know.  The only point I'm making is that Anssi is doing muck-work for MD otherwise he would be crazy for risking his job to bash a corporate sponsor of MD magazine

Manninen...

"you have nothing to do with MD ads", huh?

Sounds like you don't want to answer the question.

Your magazine ran that false aplodan and other ads for YEARS.

Suddenly, Mtech pulls all their advertising, and that SAME WEEK you're on the boards talking about how false the ad is?  Did you JUST DISCOVER IT?

No, you knew all along.  Losing MT at MD would be a HUGE deal.  See, if you were just sharing info, it'd be one thing - but you're sharing negative info about one of your former partners, right after it ended that partnership.

YOU may be personally liable here.  Muscletech has sued much poorer people for saying much less.  You're actually vulnerable here.

The minute he posted it here, he assigned his industry credibility as a supplement expert to Aplodan's claims.

He ruined their product name by calling them on this claim.  If you haven't noticed resource shift in bigger sellers like BBing.com, you should.  Aplodan is getting pulled now- relegated to lower advertising resource tiers.

Steve Blechman and his family once owned TwinLab. He sold his interest to his father and brothers in 2001 taking with him ownership of the magazine. Unless I'm mistaken, things started to unravel shortly after Steve (claiming to be under pressure from his kinfolk) altered the magazine to become All-Natural Muscular Development, featuring only Team Universe guys and other reported natural bodybuilders.

The Blechman clan no longer owns TwinLab. I'm not quite sure about this, but I think it belongs to a company associated with that Tony Robbins guy.

I'd agree MT was lying all along.  Pulling their ads proves this.

But MD was complicit in selling these lies - and knowingly.

When Manny announces it here, it's only because he and Team MD are through making money from this particular lie- and their timing proves it.

Shouldnt the athletes promoting the products be implicated as well?

Because it is the athletes that the kids are trying to emulate thinking that if they take this/that product they will look like Jay Cutler, Dexter Jackson, ect....

Kids at that age dont know its all about anabolics and HGH and slin....the athletes are guilty as well for making people believe that lie.....

I used to believe all that crap when I was akid thinking Cybergenics and Mega-Mass shakes were going to get me huge...it was all bullshit!

Well here's some facts that I'll pull out.

1.  MD has been profiting off Muscletech revenue from ad for over a decade.
2.  MD also has had "Exclusive Reports" highlighting Muscletech products
3.  Until now, no MD employee has ever said anything about Muscletech products unless they were no longer employed with MD.

Muscletech may be guilty of false advertising but MD is just as guilty for publishing the ads and the athletes who are sponsored are guilty as well.

The "other crap" was, at that time, MuscleTech's most popular product: Hydroxycut (with ma huang/ephedra). As for why MuscleTech didn't fizzle, that can be summed up in two products: CELL-TECH and NITRO-TECH.

At first, MuscleTech pushed Hydroxycut and, later, its prohormones (Anotesten and Nortesten) hard and heavy, as did many other companies with their respective fat-burners and prohormones. But, when the ban for ephedra and prohormones (except DHEA) started looming, MuscleTech did a complete 180o turn.

First, they developed an ephedra-free Hydroxycut; but more importantly, MuscleTech shifted nearly ALL of its marketing focus to CELL-TECH and NITRO-TECH. As one poster (who may not be here, anymore) put it, it was a smart move, as (quoting from memory), "It's pretty hard to &%*@ up creatine and whey protein".

All the companies, whose hallmark products were "I can't believe it's not steroids" (andro products) or ma-huang-based fatburners, went belly up. Obviously, MuscleTech did not.

Yes, this makes Annsi and MD look TERRIBLE if indeed the advertising has been pulled.

They knowingly printed lies for decades.  The minute Muscletech decided to end the relationship, MD sent their top researcher to bash them in public- and devalue their product.

This is a warning to all MD sponsors and potential sponsors.  If you ever decide to leave MD - which is totally your right - you may be subject to public attacks on your products, on the forums from the MD team.

Is muscletech hurting from sales or is the MD readership so small that they needed to pull out of MD?  Maybe AMI made MT an exclusive offer hoping that the lack of ad income for MD would destroy it.

What amazes me is how MD magazine is filled with crappy ads. Bob Hoffman and John Grimek would turn in their graves at what MD has become.

What saddens me is how naive and ignorant most wannabe bodybuilders are to buy those supplements!

My memory is hazy because it was a long time ago, but the thread was pulled in the end.

He seems to be a bit of a rogue at MD.  More than likely he was told to shut it back then and now he's exercising his right to free speech without fear of repercussions.

This doesn't mean that like Muscletech but I think that it should be decided by an UNBIASED PARTY AS TO WHETHER THEY ARE RUNNING FALSE ADS

vince you would be a great addition to the falcon familia

Wrong!

Ansi has called them out before (on this board), despite the fact they were advertising in MD at the time.

My memory is hazy because it was a long time ago, but the thread was pulled in the end.

He seems to be a bit of a rogue at MD.  More than likely he was told to shut it back then and now he's exercising his right to free speech without fear of repercussions.

Anssi is nothing more than one of MD's field slaves who decided that he wanted to live in the house.  That's why he's pulling this for.

Too convient considering the timing

I've already provided you with additional information that testifies the fact that he has brought this up at inconvenient times and been muzzled (read: a threat to his continuing employment), too.

Here is a choice quote, casting doubt on your claims

They're liable for fraudulent advertising, but not for wrongful death.

I'm not a Muscletech fan, but it should not be allowed to go after their money in this manner.

At least you can state that...  ::) I supposedly cannot. :) Only God can help them when my contract expires..

Implicated for what? The bodybuilders are saying that the product HELPED them, which, if they are actually using them, would be true. Plus, since they get the products for free (or get paid to use them), they can ingest the stuff as if it's Kool-Aid.

I used to think that way about MET-Rx, as bodybuilders in the 90s were swearing by this stuff. I tried it but didn't get swole and thought I got ripped off. Upon further review, I found out that these guys were drinking EIGHT to TEN packets of MET-Rx a day, in addition to their regular food intake.

Eight packs of MET-Rx is just under 300 grams of protein. Not that MET-Rx isn't a good product, but if you ingest 300 grams from any MRP (Meso-Tech, MyoPlex, etc.) or protein powder (ON 100% Whey, NITRO-TECH, etc.) and don't grow, you might want to consider taking up badminton as a hobby, instead.

The only thing Cybergenics got me was SORE, thanks to that "negative failure" stuff. As for Mega Mass, I actually liked that product (Banana was my favorite), used it in college back in '96 (three 10-oz servings of powder, mixed in water per day, in between meals and post-workout), and put on 21 lbs. in three months.

How are gainers a scam?  They are merely high calorie shakes.  I fail to see the manipulation here.  I just look at powders as being a convenient food source.  Although it was false advertising to state that Mike got into contest shape using a gainer.

The scam is maltodextrin.  How much it costs outside a gainer powder, how it shouldn't be used as a source for a regular meal etc

As was mentioned before, you are referring to Mega Mass. Achim Albrecht endorsed Mega Mass 2000; Mike Matarazzo endorse the "upgrade", Super Mega Mass 2000; and Lou Ferrigno did the other "upgrade", Giant Mega Mass 4000.

The one thing I didn't like about the Mega Mass powders (Giant Mega Mass 4000, in particular) is that the protein content varied significantly, based on flavor. Vanilla has more than Chocolate and Pineapple had considerably more than either one of them.

A degree from Finland is equal to my High School Diploma from Clyde A Erwin High School.

Citizens of Finland don't have to pay tuition to attend college.  Its a free school system so its practically worthless to claim the degree status.  You graduate from school when you're 15 or 16...... ;D

That is provide by your own government, so it must be true...There is great bunch of different statistic which proves that same fact, and it means that at the best, your school system is quite insufficient compared to ours.

And what comes to our prime minister, Matti Vanhanen, he doesn't look like Conan, he look like this: (http://www.valtioneuvosto.fi/ajankohtaista/kuvapankki/kuvakansio/hallitus/01-vanhanen/vanhanen.jpg).  It is our president who look like Conan, but being an ignorant cotton picker from USA, I think you got it close enough. If you would be able to understand what you are reading, you would be able to understand that this ugly mule is our prime minister, and that red haired "Conan look a like"-  donkey is our president, but that isn't the point. Point, if there even is one, is this: When you has been selecting a president in your country, and by that you has give that office to G.Bush, you should not make any comments about any other president in this world. Fact is, that guys like G.Bush could not go so far in any other country in this world, that can happen only in the USA. In any other country that fuc*king moron would be a janitor at the most, if even that, and you guys have vote him as your president. How you can criticize anybody after that?

What comes that other nonsense which you has write, it seem to me that your IQ cannot be very high. It is obvious that you can't understand difference of European democracy, and your military/police-force driven "democracy" which you are living in. In European countries governments are chosen by the people, and it's work is to fill their needs, so we have plenty of very high quality services which we pay by our taxes. Like schools, medicare, etc. just like M.Moore show to you in a film "Sicko". Your government is there to keep up your military budget by all means necessary, for keeping you guys living in fear and giving back just about nothing else but widening gap between rich and poor americans, and plenty of opportunities and excuses to die for your country = die for the rich and famous. What your country has ever give to you, which you cannot get in any other country without paying for it. You are a black man, son of the slaves, living in the most rasist country in this universe and you think that it is good to be an american. You must be mad, there is no excuses for that kind of stupidity.

What comes to that M.Moore movie, it make me laugh plenty of times. Do you know why? Just because I know, that you guys are very certain that it is based on lies. Funny part is that it is not. For example:  I have been in home last two weeks because I have a flue, which I got when I were camping in the winter forest with our sniper team. All that swimming and could weather can do that for you sometimes.  I get full salary, free appointments with a doctor, free medicine just because I live in finland, where you have law which order employers to keep good care of their workers. How much you pay by the year for things like that? Answer is nothing, because you cannot even afford to be sick...

Your ûber-free lifestyle and "greatest country of the world" hype is coming to the end, and you find yourself standing in a pile of shit, while european countries walk all over your face, laughing at your piss poor system which you call "democracy". You fuc*kers doesn't even understand a meaning of the word, it has been translated to you by your propaganda- office by adding some new meanings to it. And don't forget that I have been over there at least three times per year, training with your military, so I have seen how things has been done in there. Even your military is going to bad to worse, because those youngsters who comes to service are just about good for nothing but to die by the friendly fire. If I have to choose a bunch of your prime soldiers or a bunch of drunken russians and go to front line with them, I would choose russians with no hesitation what so ever, and even buy some wodka for them from my own pocket. Why? They will fight for their life and freedom, you guys fight because you have orders to do so. That's why your guys could not care less if they shoot their own people or the "enemy", they have been demoralised to the max and they doesn't have any motivation what so ever. Even now they have been killing each other only for the oil rights, pretending that it is honorable way to leave this world, but they should understand that they has been wasting their life's for the money which is going in wrong pocket. You live in the country which is clearly a police state, and you are eager to die for that country, even if you do so only to strengthen owner's possession to the foreign assets. There is no way to understand that kind of stupidity.

Good post. What kind of "democracy" has only two parties that both are right-wing? Oh yeah, I forgot, socialism and solidarity is evil!  ::)

Yes it took, and do you know why? I don't live my life through getbig like you, who doesn't have any life at all outside this forum. And what comes to our president, compared to Bush she is and will be a genius, and there isn't any soul in this earth to deny that...except you, "wanna be white man"- Vince, but it is clear that you have no soul, so that rules out your silly fat ass...

To sum up the thread in a couple of sentences:

Yes, it's safe to say that MD is having problems with MuscleTech.

Yes, both MD and MuscleTech are comprised largely of douchebags.

That ugly mule is the President!!!  BAHAHAHAHAHA!!!  No wonder no one takes your country seriously or even knows where it is.

I had to PAY TO GO TO COLLEGE BY UNLOADING 8-15 semi TRUCKS FOR FED-EX AT 1am in the morning and going to class for 6 hours right after I got off.  Its a big difference from someone handing it to you for free and it doesn't have the prestige of actually earning one

US Degrees - Earned by sweat and blood
Finnish Degrees - Freebie

BTW, my SAT was 1350 pal.

Holy Shit you owe me a bowl of Cheerios.  I just laughed so hard milk came out my nose back into my bowl.  Goodrum honestly how much shit can sprew out of the black piehole of yours.  You are one of most ignorant people on here and you want us to believe you even took a SAT test.  And you have all those worthless letters after you name from internet classes.  You truly are an idiot
