History doesn't agree with your assessment.  Japan was telling it's people to fight to the last man in WWII.  Hiroshima and Nagasaki happened and then all of a sudden they say "no mas".

Jihadists can not be defeated by apologizing to them, kissing their ass and trying to be friends.  They only respect strength.  If you've read any of their writings about the USA this is clear.
