Hey guys, I just started doing the behind neck jerk...this is my 2nd workout. Now with 295lbs.

Yes..don't do them. For a supposed trainer you should know this. You know, too much external rotation, possible cervical impingement. I'm sure you understand :-X

Your technique is fine...but don't do them. Jerks are done from in front not back. See progressions and sequence. Ironic this subject came uptwice in the same day.

i don't know. i do light behind the neck military on the smith..going heavy seems dangerous though. you're look strong on them

I know...but unfortunately I can't do the clean and jerk... I tried many times and I just can't bend my arms like that...

I do it for fun. Also tryin to build better balance, explosiveness and maybe some power... It's good for wrestling.

I'm not sure Steve is a real trainer. I think he is more the type that trains middle-aged single men that like to be supervised by a swole pro.

You're talking about wrist flexibility and not so much about getting your elbows up. Regardless, In the picture the lifter is doing a CLEAN and jerk. Since you're starting with the bar on the rack, you don't need to "catch" the bar from the clean position. You can take it from the rack (like a push press or military press) set up and go into the split jerk. The key is to NOT push the bar up but rather drop below and away from the bar (during the split). make sense?

Yes, my wrists are not flexible enough but also I don't think my arms are much smaller than Cena's but shorter that's for sure...

I know why you are trying to do the behind the neck jerks. But trying to do them right now could seriously fuck up your shoulders. And for what you are trying to accomplish, power cleans and clean and jerks will give much more bang for your buck with much lower injury risk.

If going behind the neck is of concerned, can you jerk/push jerk it from the front out of the rack? Out of the rack you can play with hand position till you find a comfortable spot.

Then work on your forearms and wrist flexibility, its as simple as that, start with a broomstick then use a barbell.

Well at least you have a purpose for doing them. Like others said I would be careful with the behind the neck stuff especially with how heavy you are going. Shoulder and lower back injuries can be chronic and fuck you up bad in the long term

eh, 'too much' external rotation? 99.99% of the people here or in Anygym in Anytown, USA will have too little external rotation, resulting in impingemnt in the shoulder.
i've did these for a while back in '09/'10, and i don't miss that bar crashing into my neck one bit.
better off doing snatches from your knees, or at the very least using a hammer strength jammer.

...well, based strictly on the video evidence presented to getbig in recent times, I don't think Steve is on his knees to get to anyone's snatch, if one wishes to speculate as to the video's true target market. However, I think we can all say that Steve is in fact successfully "jamming his hammer with strength", as you put it above. It might be more of akin to needlenose plyers rather than a hammer, but your point is not lost on us.

I like his stuff. Other PT's (physical therapist) have some criticisms with some of his modalities, but I've used some and they work great.

Advices? First you make an video which proves that you can't understand anything about training, and then you ask for advice? I have one for you: The one and only thing which you have to do the effect while training, is the muscle group which you are training. Not the pencilnecks in the gym, not your ego, not your friends. Only the fucking muscle. Simply enough? What you do there, is show off, because you think that you have done something special. What you have accomplish, is make a fool of yourself.
