Trainspotting does that to me.
Never shot heroin but the whole nihilistic lifestyle brings me back to when I was living something like that. Just fucking up.and not giving a fuck

I searched for saddest song on youtube when coming down and found this. I couldn;t cry, could't feel bored no matter what at that time. I was numb and wanted to feel something. Heard this. I didn't cry but damn now I watch it it hurts. I was a mess.

Not religious but this song tore my heart out. It was based on a friend of the singer whose friend had a child die young, Lyrics cut through you, first half anyway. My son was 4/5 at the time and had already had 3 operations when I heard this:
-
Wherever there's war there's normality and time for pointless activities. Plus IMO it is U2's best song:

this, except Requiem for a Dream. I got lucky never having health or law issues but it was exactly what was going on around me and to all the people I knew. I cant watch that shit AT ALL.
Especially towards the end... the helplessness, the loneliness, the complete hopelesslness of watching everything you care about crumble, only to be left broken and alone.... and knowing its all your fault but being unable to stop...... it absolutely haunts me to hear the main theme to that movie.

Think it might have something to do with the instrument/pitch at the beginning of the song. Blurry- by puddle of mud sounds a bit similar in the beginning and it always puts me in a shitty mood

I was a business traveler for many years, and flew all over North America and Europe for my job. What would unwind me on my long flights home would be most anything by the group Sigur Rós. Here is my favorite Album. Give it a full listen to. When your done you will be a state of complete peace and tranquility.

You sound like a teenager. Just look at the people who are singing that song that touches you so much and you realize it's all bullshit.

If you are feeling down, sad and lonely in the middle of the night, this is the perfect track

Broke up with my first girlfriend with this music on car CD player. Album had recently been reduced, I was 18 and it was called 18. Always remember it. Greystones beach, told her night before I needed to talk to her about something.
Bad decision on my part. Left her for a 10/10 but one who had no maturity and wouldn't put out like she did. Live and learn.

Haven't actually heard anything that has changed my life, just stuff I find inspiring. This kind of music puts me deep in thought for some reason.

I always associate music with experiences and feelings. Even Bad Romance stands out as when I could fuck lots of women and was a degen in a nightclub.

Best contemplative song I can think of.

;D awesome ;D
It is.
-
"I'm too sexy" by Right Said Fred captures the zeitgeist of the late 80s/early 90s culture of self indulgence, and predicted the me, me, me culture that would follow. If Groink had an anthem, it would be
"I'm TOO sexy"

Queensryche was ahead of their time and put out some masterpieces. Warning, Rage for Order, Operation Mindcrime and Promised Land are awesome. Unfortunately, they eventually shit the bed and have now splintered into two watered down versions of the band.
The theme of the entire Warning album is amazing, considering computers weren't even part of our lives back then. Coincidentally, it was released in 1984 - the same year described in Orwell's book.
-
Mad World
The original by Tears For Fears or the remake by REM?
-
Such a depressive a song. Always good to embrace misery and put it in it's place and move on.
-
-
Some of the Warren Zevon stuff will do it to me. Sometimes I'll listen to something like the linked songs, and I'll think about re affirming friendships and squaring away old thoughts and feelings that went unmentioned.
Jill Sobule's cover, I like her voice on it -
.
.
Also these two usually leave me in a sad state of mind -

Amen brother. I can lose myself in their music time and again, without hesitation. It's powerful stuff.

Except for the middle part when they drone on for five minutes...they are like a great film that needs to be re-edited.

Blasphemer!
Ah...just kidding. You're a Soundgarden fan, so I couldn't stay mad at you if I tried! Anyone who likes Cornell and Matt Cameron on the kit can grab a beer out of my garage and sit with me on the front lawn any day.
-
"Awaiting On You All", from George Harrison's magnum opus, "All Things Must Pass". For me, a very influential song on one of the finest albums ever from a man whose music I truly enjoy.
-
-
Listening to the first minute would make anyone rethink their life....
also...
Feeling down after Liverpool fucked up the leauge :(

Can so see myself doing heavy squats while listening to this.

I was more of a feeling so real person for fast moby songs. Reminded me of going to study french in Rennes. Some girl with the most amazing ass studying with me, someone pulled he pants down when she was waling upstairs and she had a thong on... I swear there was organ music and light from heaven shining. Though she loved that song (moby- feeling so real) I always remember this track... at end of that trip me and best mate stayed at his sister's house in Paris. We played 21, whoever lost had to drink a shot, on roof of the apartment. He rigged game and I got pissed on vodka and beer. Best times of my life... always remember this music when spending time with best friend....

Iggy Azalea's music doesn't make me rethink my life. It makes me rethink all of human life.
After hearing songs like "Fancy" and whatever the name of that song she sings about her pussy, I feel like the universe would be better off if a giant asteroid slammed into the Earth and human beings became extinct.

The way they change chords from high to low is incredible, same with voice. Go to 1:31 aND 2:13.... incredible.I can never pass 2:13 without rewinding. Proud that my son loves this song at 10, I'm educating him musically. He loves this too:
Could fill thread with music I've played to son that will be great forever and that he appreciates.

not life changing or owt, but my young mind was blown watching freddie have hundreds of thousands of people in the palm of his hand that day. spectacular!!

Of all the Queen songs! Come on! Queen Greatest Hits part 1 was first album I bought (followed by Now That's What I Call Music 28 ;D). Gotta be Bohemian Rhapsody or even Play the Game...
Heard this before I ever smelled a pussy and thought being with girls would be all romance.

Queensryche's album "Promised Land".
Rollins Band - Henry was one serious dude.
