Too long to quote here, but it's about a 20 minute read and worth every minute.

Islam is just a side effect - do not focus too much on it.
Focus on your people, territory, resources and nation. The Islam vs Christianity aspect is used to justify costly military action which ruin you from within.

Why is the story so long. Could have made it much shorter.

Normally, he writes books, so this was hard keeping it so short.

I rarely comment on threads that are primarily politico-religious in content, but having read the whole thing now I just wanted to say it's very cleverly put together - thanks for posting...

And that's what should happen all over Europe.

I gave it a crack. Reading part one, it was very close to TL;DR territory (still tired from working all day), but it started picking up at part 2. Took me longer than 20 minutes, but was pretty enthralling stuff. Worth the time.

He written several novels of a similar genre. I was a technical editor for 2 of them.

I tried and it's deinately a TLDR but appreciate the effort
solid piece of satirical fiction

Intredasting... I guess my engineering background meant I found the technical detail of the location/set up quite satisfying - it felt 'real', like the author had either worked in that industry or had a specialist adviser (such as yourself). And I have to confess, when the Glock made its entrance, it reminded me of a GB thread where I vaguely recall you and Walter discussing the relative merits of that brand of firearm. :)
Oh, and the website hosting the story was pretty intriguing too - so thanks again.

You guys should give it another shot, there's a very satisfying twist/metaphor at the end (no spoiler) 8)

Matt was a SEAL back in the early 80's but he's worked as a machinist and commercial sailor. He does a lot of research for his stories by talking to actual BTDT folks. He asked a lot of technical questions on Facebook about cranes and how SWAT would use a small helicopter.

Hopefully not piloted by Washout Washburn ;)
