I have the M&F report and i would say Momo, Dorian and also Padilla were far ahead of the rest of them. Dorian in 1990 would have scared a lot of guys at the Mr.O.
Yes I read somewhere that after this defeat Dorian trained his already great back harder and harder coz he felt that Benaziza's back was better..Thats correct, he put momo's picture up on the wall so he would see him when training

Yes, it was Dorian's first IFBB contest, I believe. I think he bypassed the O that year, feeling if he couldn't win that contest, he couldn't win the Olympia.
Maybe the fact it was a tested Mr O influenced that decision. Momo amongst others was disqualified for diuretics/aas at that show.Yeah otherwise we might have seen something that resembles Yates today on that stage.

Mike, you've met a lot of the pros in the 80's & 90's, how did you get all these pics with them, did you personally know any of them?
How were the majority of these pros, approachable?
The pros that i know/knew were mostly local Amateur guys that just so happened to turn professional (i was manager at a niteclub where Mike Matarazzo's wife was a bartender/Mike used to come in all the time and we became "friends") i worked at another niteclub (Palace) where Paul Demayo's best friend worked (teddy hanley) Paul came in all the time and later i worked (bounced) with Paul at another club in Salem Mass)i trained at a gym (golds gym everett mass) where a lot of top amateurs and pros trained........the bodybuilding "scene" is a fairly small tight-knit group.......Jay Cutler trained at another gym (nautilus plus billerica) that i went to

Back in the day (late 80's early 1990's) bodybuilding was imensely popular (it was all over TV)
It was a great great time in my life (i thought it was "normal" to go to the Gym and see Matarazzo and Demayo training)
The guys that i "looked up to" were guys like Rich Gaspari,Lee Haney,Berry Demey,Mike Christian, i had no idea some of these guys that i saw every day were going to be "legends" in the sport
No...............i met "Ken" when i traveled to Venice and befriended Chris Cormier (Chris was way cool,hung out while there,invited me to club that he bounced at (roxy the roxy something like that)
Flex ...................long story (suffice to say we didn't hit it off too well)
Paul DEmayo was very funny actually! (sarcastic.......great sense of humor)
always had a "chip on his shoulder tho (used to give me tons of free Met-Rx tho!)

Hey Mike, I travelled from Melbourne with Sonny Schmidt for that show and also the Niagara Falls show near Bufallo, I ended up MCing both, any photos? I wore a really tragic suit that day. Sonny was cool and we had a ball in NYC, went to a few clubs and gyms in the city. I remember we got asked to do a gym opening for a Gold's in Yonkers and a seminar in Long Island. They really looked after us and we never forgot that first trip to USA.

He tried picking up my girlfriend in Golds Venice (asked her "what she was doing with me") asked her to "meet him later that night"...she waited until we left the gym to tell me (that pissed me off more/sent me over the edge) when Flex and Co came into the firehouse later that day i lost it (knocked tables/dishes chairs over) Chris Cormier jumped in between us/all went outside (lot of "posturing" but not much else)
Flex was a real dick back then (arrogant and cocky as all hell), Cormier was the total opposite super nice guy!

I know licker, demayo, mattarazzo (back when he trained at peps), thats some old school shit. I was just a kid though back then. Mikes an old bastard but i know of him through others and hes good people and always has been.
