:o the only remnant from wilt chamberlain's record 100 point game , no film of event. thank goodness one guy had the foresight to take a pic to remember this important game.

he will be missed, no one will ever wear number 42 again.

Any idea why he wore that number and why he was the last player to do so?

Any idea why he wore that number and why he was the last player to do so?
no other player will wear number 42 because that was jackie robinson's number when he broke the color barrier for mlb. when they retired it only the players who already had that number could keep it till they were done playing. mariano r. was the very last and before him mo vaughn was second last i think.
