I never really invested in anything.  I wanted to in a particular penny stock called Nastech pharmaceuticals.  Could have made millions on that one.  That is really the only one I blew but didn't lose any actual money.  Purely Hawaiian lost me maybe $100,000 of my own money maybe but lost potentially tens of millions.  Also the other gym I was doing in the early 90's was a big thing.  I basically just lived good and made sure my girlfriend and kid was set at the time.  I traveled a lot too and always stayed in nice hotels.  Even when I went to LA instead of staying with friends I always stayed at the Ramada Renaissance at LAX.  I spent my money because I always thought I was going to always have it coming in.

I wouldn't necessarily call it a fallacy, as most stereotypes are based at least in part on some truth.  Are all asians going to be good with money and work hard?  Obviously not.  But many many do, and statistically they are better in math in general than other races.

As far as the gambling thing goes Moosey, I think you're right!  I don't know any asian who doesn't love to gamble!! I might go to the casino tonight!

It has to do with the money managers that these idiots entrust their finances to. Most of these high flying rockstar sportsmen/musicians/actors etc don't balance their own books or track their finances. They hire people to manage the money details and more often than not make investments on their behalf. There are a lot of scam artists who will make "clever" investments that go nowhere while telling their boss that their money is doing just fine. Eventually once the money runs the "rockstar" will be baffled because he's been led to believe that he still rich.

The entourage and the other "friends" will take their cut as long as the guy is still financially well off but once the money stops flowing they'll move on to the next big thing while their "donor" is saddled with huge debts and will end up declaring bankruptcy

A lot of these guys just don't or can't see the end of the well...add that to the fact that MOST of them don't hire the right people to protect them from inevitable financial collapse post-retirement and the money and endorsements aren't as forthcoming.

for sure..closet racists on getbig...yes there are many...i agree with the sentiment that we havent had millions before and therefore the decisions we make when we get a million dollars are different and many times wrong...but its not a race thing per se...because anyone with a generational background of just being broke would have bad decisions when a million dollars is plopped in their laps...it just happens to be that most blacks in america have come from such a background..

But clothes and cars - things which attach to one's ass - will never go up in value.  Yes, there are classic cars, I know, but not in the 'hood.  So much money that could be used to build wealth is instead spent on things which drop in value with each passing day.

Same thing goes for us South East Asians Tre, I swear at least 85% of the lao community where I am from will work 80 hrs a week at some shit factory just so they can drive a lexus and live in a nice house that they can barely afford just to show they "made it" in America.  It's really pathetic, and almost none of them even think about getting an education.

I guess I'm lucky that my mother was irish with a good education, my dad is from laos and was forced to work in one of these factories, so working hard was most important to him.  My mom however made sure me and my sister went to college instead of ending up in the hood for the rest of our lives like all the other people I grew up around.

There is a TV show about the lottery winners where they all ended up broke or dead. None were black. Watch CNBCs American Greed. Great show and mostly white.

Most everyone changes with money and the temptations VERY strong to spend and live that life that you always dreamed of. Its compounded if you grew up with little regardless of your nationality. Some people dream bigger than others. Quite simple to understand if you have an open mind. Racists dont...
