"there is another catergory of people though, the stupid... that is not correctable. it can be identified, but can be cured in only one way... col. Colt invented the way" ;D
-
how interesting ::)
he knows a shitload more about training than you do dumbass
-
yes training with anything other than nautilus equipment will DESTROY your skeleton
he never said that, you're putting words in his mouth
he did say something like this though "used properly, a barbell is near a miracle tool for muscle building"
also, at the end of his days he basically said that all that is needed is dips, chins, and full squats
-
he did say that
he said humans are rotatory animals
and there for barbell weightlifting movements destroy your skeleton
and the only safe way is nautilus equipment
if you use shit form they do, but not if you use them correctly

Clever dude - no wonder he had that permanently pissed off look.
What exactly is he trying to get across there?

As a fellow genius, the pissed off look or rather being a bit pissed off all the time is unavoidable. When you are much smarter than basically everyone else, social traffic becomes extremely annoying. You're constantly not understood and you constantly have to explain things that seem evident to you. It is like this non-stop. There is never a period of rest unless you isolate yourself (which is not good neither).
Many geniuses do or did isolate themselves with of course dire consequences. You need people around you to not go crazy. Isolated people get depressed, psychotic, ... Next thing you know, you are cutting of ears and stuff like that :D
-
Arthur Jones was no different, if I recall correctly, he isolated himself in his large house, where all kinds of weird stuff was going on eventually.

I agree

a few things...
1. exercise is safe if done properly
2. if you are a pussy and can't handle the physical pain and discomfort of hard training then don't even bother training
3. don't trust the so-called "experts" coz they are liars and are hypocritical pieces of shit
-

that's true in general, but schizoid's can handle being alone and isolated
-
fuckin brilliant
Arthur Jones one of my all time favorite dudes in the iron game
-
Interesting personality for sure.

Schizophrenics? Because they have voices in their head that talk to them? ;D

Like what?
-
Like what?
Ceremonial burning of Weider pamphlets + Lou Ferrigno voodoo doll workshops.
@Moen: I guess it's the sore feeling of a possible lynching by the legion of idiots out there due to making them understand their own stupidity.
On the other side I wouldn't underestimate a large portion of the folks out there - more clever people around than one might think... maybe it's the half full/half empty dilemma that made Jones pissed.
-
looks small, need mass brutally bad

Like what?
Can't remember.

You see the irony here, yes?

Hmm... so Jones could have been a liar too?

Is that his speech at the Nobel prize awarding ceremony ::)

Wiley Coyote-super genius

I have read his "Nautilius Bulletin #1" and he is clearly missing several facts which are crucial to optimise your training.
First, he believes that maximum strength can be efficiently increased by gradually increasing repetitions with constant weight without ever having to do actual lift with heavier loads. That is not true due to:
- central nervous system adaptations required to control heavier weight
- building balance through adapting supporting muscles
Also, increasing muscular strength through constant attempts to best your previous results is suboptimal. In order to increase strength CNS must be your primary concern, not hypertrophy. Adaptation of CNS through deloads, progression and periodization is crucial for maximum strength.
-

this isn't true
he prescribed that one keep the rep range @ 6-20 reps, and for upper body to keep the rep range @ 6-12 reps, and he also said that one can go as low as 4 reps (occasionaly), but to be very careful with that, because of the increased likelyhood of injury due to using heavier training loads

It has nothing to do with what I stated.

how do you figure?
you said... "by gradually increasing repetitions with constant weight without ever having to do actual lift with heavier loads"
AJ was all about increased training loads, that was his major gospel in fact
-
One system out of many. it all comes down to genetics, they ultimately determine how big you will be
AJ was a smart guy who marketed his product very wisely
-

You haven't read what he wrote, have you? He stated that after reaching point of strength when increasing loads becomes dangerous you should start increasing repetitions to achieve more strength.
-
Hmm... so Jones could have been a liar too?
Everyone lies, that's a given when it involves humans :P
-
I've always liked AJ. I don't know if he was a genius, but he was definitively very smart in a training world full of dumb asses.
I've read plenty of his writings and they definitively influenced the way I train.
Good video.

deceiver and dj, two studs discussing "what aj really said" with 0 references between them

Bodybuilding is the ultimate prisoners dilemma, the perfect Liars Game.

deceiver and dj, two studs discussing "what aj really said" with 0 references between them
it's Ironical for me, because I used to think dj181 was the biggest moron on this site, until I had the pleasure of "debating" deceiver for a bit, and he revealed an even more idiotic view of life
-

What he said is
Humans need nautilus machines, because he doesn't get paid if you buy a barbell

A throw back to the Industrialists of the 19th century such as Williams Randolph Hearst in that Arthur Jones earned huge sums of money and spent huge sums of money.

I'll simply say that Gary and Author DID NOT get along. . . or at least that's the way it sounds when Gary talked about "lawsuits" etc.
