If I was in Carwins situation in the 3rd round, and already know that I lost the first two rounds, I would pull a Tyson and bum rush his ass with everything I had. The only thing i'm sure of is that I wouldn't be going around in circles in the third round throwing playful jabs. His real chance was to do what he did for a brief moment in the second round. Attack dos Santos by cutting him off agoinst the cage and throw some bombs.

carwin looked too defensive from start to the finish. He was not moving enough. Junior just lit him up with jabs, jabs, and more jabs.
Once carwin's nose was broken, I bet he was happy to just go the distance without getting that nose hit again.

I don't get guys like Mir and Carwin. Mir is my favorite figher (along with Florian). Mir can either look like a world beater or a punching bag, although he has far more tools than a guy like Carwin. Carwin rapes the division, kicking cans all over the place. Then he beats guys like Gonzaga, Mir, and pummeled Lesnar until he gassed.
Carwin is not overrated, but he has definately been exposed as middle of the pack now. I think the only guys Mir has to worry about now are JDS, and Cain. He is smart enough to figure out how to beat Lesnar, and Carwin now. 8)

At 29, Ruas is definitely not past his prime. You can recover from injuries very easily when you are in your twenties. The only way for a 29 year-old to be past his prime would be if he had an injury to his spinal cord which, although not making him crippled, would make him fight at barely 50% of his capacity. That is, a devastating injury. Jones beat Ruas because he is simply better. Period.
That being said, Jones is a cheat who should be fighting in his true weight class(heavyweight). The guy is 6'4 tall with large bones and a huge reach. He is like Overeem from back in PRIDE fighting beneath his weight class, with the difference that was a detriment to Overeem but is good for Jones.
People like to point out that he is 205 lbs like his opponents and thus has no unfair advantage. They forget that a huge man fighting beneath his weight class enjoys an unfair reach and speed advantage over his opponents. A tall man fighting at a lower bodyweight not only has a greater reach but also probably less bodyfat than his opponent which means more muscle at the same weight. Hence, Jones is a cheater and beats guys who carry less muscle than him and he uses the unfair reach advantage to hit them without them being able to hit back.

Yeah, except that having a BJJ black belt or great cardio are under your control, whilst there's nothing you can do to increase your reach. Like sheer mass and thus strength, reach is one of those advantages that makes for unfair fights. I don't care watching a heavyweight beating up a lightweight because there is no skill involved. Likewise, I don't care about watching a 6'4 guy with twice the reach of a 5'10 guy beating the shorter guy up because he can't hit back.

What a ridiculous argument to maintain. Reach is only 1 of the many variables that affect a fight, especially if a fighter knows how to use it. I have seen many fighters with shorter reaches make light work of bigger opponents - Igor is a prime example.
Weight classes are the fairest way to split the fighters & the only thing i would say is that to be absolutely on the ball the weighin should be on the afternoon of the fight. Ultimately a weight advantage isnt necessarily going to win you a fight, once again we have had hundreds of examples of this in the past and many more to come in future.
People scrape the most ridiculous excuses out of the bottom of the barrel when they dislike a certain fighter, why is Kendall grove being constantly manhandled @ 185 when he could very well be fighting as a HW. It doesnt matter because he makes the 185 limit through his own choice and complies with all of the necessary requirements to compete as a MW.
End of story.
