I remember a while ago someone saying he had a construction business. How did he pay to come to the US back in the day? I think i remember people talkin about it on here a while ago but cant find the threads. He had a car, trained twice a day, went to the beach alot. How did he find time to work? How did he pay for food, gym, apartment, car etc???

x2. Arnold and Franco (due to Arnold) were the first bodybuilders basically payed to just be bodybuilders by Joe Weider. Joe gave them a weekly salary, apartment, etc, and Arnold appeared on Joe's magazine. Pretty much a douche move to all the other guys that appeared on the magazines that didn't get payed, but thats how it worked.

Pretty much a douche move to all the other guys that appeared on the magazines that didn't get payed, but thats how it worked.
lol paid to be bodybuilders, Joe use to take Arnold to buy milkshakes on the boardwalk, what 60 or 70 year old married man would be taking around a 20 something bodybuilder for milkshakes at the beach, Arnold and most if not all were the g4p pioneers.

of course they did g4p too. But Joe did give them money and screwed over the other bodybuilders. Bill Grant, Dave Draper, and Robby have spoke on this.

I went on a vacation trip to Los Angeles in the mid 1980's and was working in the broadcasting industry as a technician at the time. I met
a tech who had worked as a sound man for Merv Griffin Productions. He said that Merv Griffin taught him how to invest, and that his initial capital came from his appearances on the Merv Griffin show. (AFTRA scale is a tidy sum, and Arnold was/is a skilled raconteur)

Joe also paid a lot of money helping nasser move to the states as well. Nasser may bash the bodybuilding industry but he adores Joe.

Draper actually had the real talent as a carpenter. He also made furniture by hand and sold quite a lot of it. He may actually still do it today.

Arnold was always know as "Mr. Average" when it came to the size of his trophy...And even left many women unsatisfied in the bedroom...Of course Arnold had a thing for Mudsharks...However he didn't understand (at the time) what a mudshark really meant...Maybe thats why he married an Irish women later on in life...Rumor has it the Kennedy children were all struck with the Irish curse...I'm guessing Arnonld was hoping that his soon to be wife may get a good glimpse of what the irish curse really is...
