Ironically there was an article out just today discussing how the rise of china's military has been largely fueled by European and specifically german technology.  Said the germans were the undisputed world leaders in designing submarine engines as well as various other aspects of military engineering.

Germany has long been among the worlds top 3 exporters, despite its relatively small size. The reason is because german engineering, design and quality of build have always been respected and acknowledged as among the best in the world.

Same scenario applies to the Japanese when they began to build their navy.  When Japan was building its Naval fleet they looked to Europe as a model.

As an european (not german) i am somewhat worried with the todays german obcession with work work work an money making.
The nazi regime started dominating with that same idiology. Jews, gypsies, older people, handicaped were considered burdens to society, to economic growth.
This "european comunity" doesn't work. The only country who is prospering is germany.
Plus... 75% of the laws of the countries members are dictated by non democratic elected people or parties.
In european parliament if someone disagrees with the french/german ideology is considered an enemy of the european dream.
It will all be over soon. Let's just wait.

The war was kind of forced on them when england/france declared war on them, but yes it was a huge strategic blunder to go ahead and try to take out russia before the british had been subdued. The brits were a thorn in their side but they also brought america into the war, meaning havi g to fight russia on one side and britain/america on the other side which meant certain defeat. If britain would have made peace with them, or been defeated, germany would have crushed the soviet union and prevent the spread of communism, and america would have never got involved in the war in europe
