He didn't win because he is a turd, nothing more.  The fact that he was a successful CEO only helped him.

Other reasons he lost:

47% comment
Patsying out in the final 2 debates
Too moderate for many repubs to vote for him

In addition to being one of the blandest, most uncharismatic Republican candidates in years--and in a list that includes George W. Bush, that's saying a lot.

The constant lying didn't help either, especially that last one about jeep because the people of Ohio knew what the truth was.  I think also that his loss was a repudiation of the tea party.   Romeny lost ALL of the battle ground states which is where the tea party tried to put their agenda into place after the 2010 mid-terms.   Not only did Repubs lose the presidential race in the battleground states but they also lost all of the Senate races which I why I say that it wasn't just a rejection of Romeny but of the tea party and their parent corporation, the republican party

to vote obama, one had to admit they were okay with obamacare, benghazi, etc.

to vote romney, one had to admit they were okay with the 47% tape, the lies, ,the flipflops, romneycare, gun bill, etc.

or one could just believe that Romney was a con man and pathological liar and would have been a return to the policies that almost drove us into a Depression
