I remember John McEnroe got in trouble for saying she was the greatest women’s tennis player ever. The interviewer said why women’s why not greatest tennis player ever.John said “you mean against the men? She wouldn’t be in the top 100”
Haha he got a bit of grief for that

But he was right:

Another event dubbed a "Battle of the Sexes" took place during the 1998 Australian Open between Karsten Braasch and the Williams sisters. Venus and Serena Williams had claimed that they could beat any male player ranked outside the world's top 200, so Braasch, then ranked 203rd, challenged them both. Braasch was described by one journalist as "a man whose training regime centered around a pack of cigarettes and more than a couple of bottles of ice cold lager". The matches took place on court number 12 in Melbourne Park, after Braasch had finished a round of golf and two shandies. He first took on Serena and after leading 5–0, beat her 6–1. Venus then walked on court and again Braasch was victorious, this time winning 6–2.

Braasch said afterwards, "500 and above, no chance". He added that he had played like someone ranked 600th in order to keep the game "fun" and that the big difference was that men can chase down shots much more easily and put spin on the ball that female players could not handle. The Williams sisters adjusted their claim to beating men outside the top 350.

14-0 in Grand Slam Doubles with Venus

250 Million Net

Similar to Jordan with the NBA, I lost track of the WTA after Gaby Sabatini retired

Assuming she has had the best career totals of any woman or somewhere in the same ballpark with Graf?

I think a guy on WFAN got in trouble on IMUS for making fun of her.

I also soured on when her when she started pushing the politics.

She isn’t in your face about it, but it’s consistent.

She often did not take her fitness seriously as it seems she became a bit complacent having such a physical advantage over the other women.

She obviously made the sport better being around so long and playing at a high level into her late 30’s.

An argument could be made for Steffi Graf or Martina Navratilova.
