There's been too many complaints and bitching and politics and other shit in the V lately. I'm the root cause of all of it. In my defense, I didn't want any of this to happen.
So I've stopped modding this board ;D. I know I'm still listed as mod (for now), but I'm going to be like BSB ;D - you all can say what you want without 'fear' or the 'stress' that my merging your threads will generate 8)
I'd like to thank Always Sore for being the only guy who came closest to understanding what I did, although he isn't the only one (hopefully).

Sorry mate. But I've become like Hank Rearden from Atlas Shrugged ;). I refuse to be an accomplice in the nurturing of a monstrosity. Everyone seems to have mistaken my care for this board for an ego-trip which was never a big deal to me anyway.
I think I'll try something else seriously that's far less political, but just as engaging and entertaining - like gaming.
Oh, and I'm starting my own forum too. I'll contact the people that I think are worth contacting in due course 8)

Nah dude, I stayed for a week or so after all the shit didn't I? I don't really care about that TBH. It's just that I've been bored of the whole thing for a while. The PMs that got posted was only the last straw.
I sent Ron a PM about 3 weeks ago - long before all this started, asking him to let me step down from the V. I did it cause I was bored and I thought Heckler would be my ideal replacement, due to his immense mental capacity. But Ron won't let me step down ;D. He let NBN step down, even though he asked only 3 - 4 days ago.
As for my new forum, if you think it's going to fail, that's fine. It's not going to be about bodybuilding and I'm not going to compete with Ron. In case you guys didn't realise, it costs less than $100 to setup a forum, so I've got nothing more than that to lose.
And please do me a favor - please don't compare me to guys like 240 or Garreth (no offense to those guys) ;D

I've told you a trillion times before Zach - I've ALWAYS been this way. When you guys saw me at the surface, you thought I was a bright spark who was good for this board and who added his own unique touch. But I'm human too and I have my likes and dislikes. I thought that 'gayer than' posts were funny and so I thought I'd see how funny I could make them to be.
Incidentally, the 'gayer than' posts are the ones that got me the most compliments, popularity etc ;D. You don't think they're funny? So what? Different strokes for different folks. There's tons of straight guys out there who don't like homosexual guys. Are you telling me that'd stop you from being with another guy with whom you share a mutual attraction?
But you guys saw what I was beneath the surface ;D (actually, I should say you caught a glimpse, cause I'm MUCH deeper and intense than what my PMs have shown me to be - you guys have no idea ;D). So, I did what I had to do to clear my name in the eyes of those who matter - they know who they are.
Things like those PMs I posted won't die out mate. I don't really care what 99.99% of you think. Luckily for me, the 0.01% understand me and approve, which makes me glad, not relieved.

the answer to this question is no, according to many interpretations of quantum physics. the photoelectric effect or wave/particle duality is collapsed into particles by consciousnous. this was shown in the double slit experiment. consciousnous is needed, it is an active participant. but consciousnous itself is a quantum event, so what collapses consciousnous? any ideas zach? its a paradoxical question. i admit your smarter then i gave you credit for.
however, that interpretation could be wrong. schrodingers cat type stuff.
the meta-physical means above or beyond physics. like what was before the big bang, your definition is correct. unfortunately there was no such thing as before, before the big bang. i would say that we might be able to answer some of the metaphysical questions in the future(just a guess though).

usmoke, keep in mind schroedinger invented the cat hypothetical in order to mock the inherent problems with the uncertainty principle. i'm extremely dubious about the possibility that the world doesn't exist when no one sees it, because that doesn't explain why multiple people observing things independently and at different times will all describe it the same way.
furthermore it just throws out a lot of standard concepts such as how our eyes work, assuming rather than our brains have an actual profound effect on the world around us, as though our senses are proactive rather than reactive. i'm more than a little skeptical of the type of theoretical physics that tells me that when i'm not looking at my shoes they're everywhere and only lock into one place when i look at them.
but then i'll give it time to flesh out and will reserve final judgment for now.

thats the weirdness of quantum physics. i wouldnt say they are everywere. just that they could potentially be anywere. and consciousnous selects the actuality to which we see. who knows. the other infinite potentialities could come into actuality in other parellel universes, something that has been proposed in string physics.
i almost beleive that consciousnous is the chief reality and matter is the epiphenominal creation from consciousnous. goswami champions this theory to a degree. he basically states that the universe came into existence(all 15 billion years) in the blink of an eye when consciousnous was one of those potentials that was exhausted.

well with your example your also making the assumption that is your consciousnous that counts or that your consciousnous is seperate. i tend to disagree with this. quantum entanglement shows that literally everything is one, and during phase entanglement your consciousnous along with a rock on alpha sentori were in contact, in consequence becoming entangled. this is how i beleive the universe works, it is the collective, or should i say the one that creates everything. your seperation is an illusion. im not calling for the ancient mystic interpretation, but the quantum physics interpretation. your also ruling out the actual effect mind has on matter. like psychokinesis which is in the process of being proven. telepathy is already an established fact if you look at the research. i think the telepathy example is another indicator of entanglement, we all share the thoughts of others, were jsut not aware. similar to jungs collective unconscious.

not following your logic. brain is a quantum event. it has been proven that observing collapses the wave function. it is needed, it is interactive. what is non-sense? the world exists as a potentiality until consciousnous collapses it into actuality. you cant seperate them. this was proven, and can be done over and over. the could be other interpretations. photons also are non-local and communicate faster then light, they seem to have consciousnous. this was also shown by the quantum eraser experiment. the most elementary thing in the universe is consciousnous imo, not matter. things can also communicate backwards in time to change the present.
