there is a difference between sitting a a rollercoaster up side down and watching something from a far which doesn't affect you physically at all except for maby a few shakes in the ground.

Screaming when you're so far away that it doesn't affect you is pointless imo.  ON a side note I cant fucking stand people that screams like that, so I might be biased lol

ah come on now, u know we both aren't the smartest cookies in the world but you should be able to figure that out

1) People like to be reminded that they are mortal - why do you think people like to watch executions car crashes - car races the list is endless.
2) By making the decission to go on an amusement ride you make a concious dangerous but still controlled decission.
3) You know that you will be helpless when you are sitting in it and once its set in motion - that is part of the fun
4) The screaming is because an amusement ride - parachuting - bungee jumping makes you feel a little bit like you are dying, the body releases adrenaline which makes your fight or flight instinct kick in - its like deep deep racial memory.
5) by screaming you get somewhat back in control and its a natural stress reliever, when you come to an accident side and you have a guy/girl sitting there and she/he constantly talks worry about the one that just sits there and says nothing.

I usually spend three weeks or so over in Italy each year. Outside the major cities, most Italians live in small towns up in the hills/mountains. Last year, at night, while driving back to the villa we rented, I remember seeing huge brush fires light up the night sky. Some of them were right along side the road, and if you reached out the window, you could touch the flames. Just burning widely in the middle nowhere. It was beautiful/surreal.
