 Lots of homeless people are doing it for spiritual reasons, trying to transcend materialism and ego.

 Lots of them just got sick of the rat race and decided to be homeless to have a sense of freedom.

 Lots of them were just born into broken homes, and from day one they got screwed and had it rough.
