I went and saw Johnny at the Iron Horse Saloon in Northampton Ma.,about 10-12 years ago..........he was a shadow of his former self on guitar, but still rocked out.

Was very weak and sat while playing during most of the show.

I talked to one of his buddies/roadies and he told me that all Johnny did all day and night between gigs was drink Jack Daniels and listen to Muddy Waters records.

One of the best guitarists ever, and here`s one of my favorite blues cover tunes that prove just that.

^^ An old B.B. King tune, done with a bluesy/rock style that only Johnny could do.

^^^ Not one of my favorites but it shows Johnnys expertise when it comes to speed.

^^ With Muddy and James Cotton

^^ With Edgar Rick Derringer who I also saw for free........awesome show at a county fair that I just stumbled into with my then girlfriend on a Sunday drive.

^^ With Edgar Winter and White Trash

Did you really need to use the F word? Do you think it makes you sound more knowledgeable about music? You're a bald little munchkin.

Much respect for Johnny Winters -  he was a sorely under appreciated artist. I used to cover a couple of his songs in my last band and it was always the highlight of the night.

Pick In Peace, Mr. Winters!

I'm not a fan of blues, but that man was good. True legend, along with SRV, Moore, Clapton and other greats.
Miles Davis once said - “For me, music and life are all about style.”
Winter had a lot of style for sure.

Sad news. Cut my musical teeth in the 70's, and he was always in the mix, somewhere. Smoked a lot of weed to his tunes.

Sad sad news, but expected as he was wasted physically and mentally.
Had a stroke and was up to his neck in antidepressants. Amazing he made it to 70.

Seen him perform couple of times the past 30 yrs. Band with Paris in the 80s was almost as great as with RJH.
His brother took care of his health a lot better than Johnny did. So did Derringer, who's still as good as ever (well, almost)...

RIP JOHNNY.  :'(

Fook I really feel bad Johnny Winter died.....makes me feel old or so. He was one of the first guitar players I tried to play the solo's from.
