Politically, where do you stand on this issue?  Bush was against it.  Obama is okay with it.  I don't understand the moral objection - porn is already on the web, and this willl actually make it easier to regulate/block.  Parents can block the entire .xxx domain and stop their kids from going to a lot of bad places.  And it'll generate some serious $$$ and boost the economy a bit - tens of millions in pre=registration fees... and it will now skyrocket with new registration.

Plans to establish a new internet domain specifically for pornography are to proceed after internet regulators approved the .xxx suffix for adult entertainment sites, three years on from a decision to block the move.

Proposals to create a new adults-only domain date back as far as 2003 when moves to open up the number of major domain names were announced by the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (Icann), which administers millions of internet addresses.

However, Icann blocked the plan in 2007 after long deliberations and threats in the US from the Bush government, which opposed the creation of .xxx on moral grounds and said it would override Icann if necessary.

On Friday, the board of Icann said that it would allow the .xxx domain to be overseen by ICM Registry – the backer of the scheme – although a number of board members reportedly opposed the resolution.

THere is definately a large part of me that supports it. Too many kids are able to access pornography too easily. The only problem is this: How are you going to define XXX ? A lot of fitness models and fitness competitors have some topless pics on thier paysites Are you going to make them register under the xxx domain just because of that?

Just read this yesterday on Fox's site.  You're missing one major point guys.  Nobody is being forced into .xxx  adult material will still get to keep their .com.  So it really doesn't do anything but give a new option to register a domain.

Many good free porn sites as there is. Does anyone actually pay for it anymore?

they must.  I keep hearing how it's a billion dollar industry every time the subject comes up on tv.
