WHAT DID YOU GUYS THINK OF THE AMERICAN GLADIATORS PREMIER ?
I thought it was pretty entertaining, but there was still a big cheese factor involved.
The eliminator at the end sure kicked everyones bad pretty bad.
Ill probably continue to watch it...

I watched the Chris Rock special on Comedy Central and found it to be pretty darn good.
Tonight I'll be watching the BCS championsip game while NBC plays its drivel.

Kind of corny. The gladiator named "wolf" doesn't even look like he stepped into a gym. Monster 15 inch arms on him.
Though, for some reason, the gladiator named "Crush" REALLY turns me on. She has a slutty/dirty look to her. She will probably suck your dick dry.(not that I will ever know :( )

Ok, so maybe it is mindless entertainment. I watched it because it was fun to watch various Gladiators and competitors that we know from our industry. The editing wasn't as good as it was supposed to be, as we saw by the commentaries, and Tanji taking out a competitor right away and bringing in Venus as the new competitor was strange, since they didnt even put her name out there. Venus Ramous, who won her competition yesterday and advanced, is an NPC Fitness competitor here from Southern California, most recently at the NPC Los Angeles show, and she was at the NPC Nationals. She is a doctor too, I think 42 years old.
The premier of the American Gladiators drew a 6.7/10 rating, which had more viewers and better demo numbers than other network programs. Obviously, tonights numbers will go down due to the BCS championship game, but everything depends on numbers.

Bullshit Ron. Desperate Housewives destroyed it, I saw the overnights already.
The overnight Nielsen ratings are in and American Gladiators scored big with an estimated 12.04 Million viewers (5.9/14) throughout the two-hour premiere episode for adults 18-49. They were fourth among all TV shows behind Desperate Housewives (19.77 Million viewers), 60 Minutes airing the Roger Clemens interview (17.86 Million viewers) and Extreme Makeover: Home Edition (12.66 Million viewers). Tonight NBC will air AG’s second episode at 7 p.m. central in it’s main timeslot from here on out so we should definately get a clearer picture of what ratings will actually be.

Agreed that the Monday show was much better. Still a little too much emphasis on the contenders' life stories, but from my viewpoint, the editing seemed to be a few degrees simpler than we saw in the Sunday episode.
Of note: my kid (age 5) LOVES it and my wife has found the contender she's gonna stick with throughout the season (Siene).
If my memory is correct, it's going to be on against PRISON BREAK starting next week, so it'll be interesting to see whether AG can get up to that #2 position in the time slot again.

on sunday night one of the girl competitors was swimming under the fire wall thingy and came up to quick and hit her forehead on the metal pipe. It was bleeding pretty good down her face but she still finished but lost the eliminator

Events were same shit from 90's.....I thought it would be re-invented, new exciting events...adding water is not all that exciting.
Wasnt it stated that some of the Gladiators were given 3 yr contracts??? Should have been 6 episode contracts.
At least Gladiators of the 90's were big bodybuilders, Billy Smith, Chic, Jim Henneberry and some other big guys

The only part of the show that may have been scripted was the hosts commentary...and not even all of that was scripted. Even though the interviews sounded pretty cheesy...believe it or not...the competitors came up with that crap all by themselves. They know they are going to be interviewed so they tried to come up with catchy little smart slogans etc.
The Male gladiators don't look small to me, I was on set and they are pretty freakin big and they are definately in shape. Being big doesn't always equal athleticism....remember that. Each one brings a different element to the show, I personally love Wolf and his character. He plays it well, and Mike just looks like your typical "gladiator" "warrior" he looks good on camera. Mayhem looks pretty intimidating and mean. Love the polonesian dude too and Justice is big as hell in person. I'm sure bigger guys tried out...but they probably didn't make it for a reason.
The female gladiators are all awesome! Very athletic and beautiful. Most of us knows them in person and know that they are wayyy prettier than the shitty pics on the website. Siren is good on pretty much all her events, Venon is hot as hell and very good on the rings, Crush is a monster on the joust, Stealth took that poor girl out in the first 15 sec in powerball, Helga should be doing a little better than she is, but Jamie is pretty kick ass too on the rings....
Remember....this show will never be like the "old AG" we will always be biase towards the original..that's human nature, but I don't think the show is a total bust at all. I thought it was very entertaining, and it's nice to see this type of show back on TV.
And seriously....can you guys learn a new word?? GAY is getting kinda old. Sounds like a few of you are a little insecure with your manhood!

Was pretty bad. First they could have had Hulk and Leila dress up a little better for season premier, cmon now.
Really, Leila looked like she got dressed in under 5 mins, They could at least have been original and had hulk wear something a bit more "entertaining" or nicer. Looked like they came in off from waching a 5 hour movie and were handed microphones.

For the record, though, my daughter only likes American Idol, but she LOVES American Gladiators. That 5-year-old demographic will be the key to the show's success!
