Because the George C. Scott movie "Hardcore" took place there. 

And it actually looks remarkably like my city...and even has buildings, homes, and churches that look the same [built around the same time]. And Grand Rapids appears to have similar seasonal changes and weather as my city.

It just sort of feels like I would be at home there...even though my city is a dump.

Who did GR vote for this past election, was it Trump? The ghetto is a little North West of GR. It’s called Muskegon.

Strangest encounter I ever had in the “ghetto” of GR was eating in a small Mexican area of the city where they spoke ZERO English. It was shocking to see in Grand Rapids.

You’re right that the climate is probably identical, winters are probably a little shorter and a little less intense (but the lake effect snow in that area can make it brutal). Summers are great though.

You should visit Holland if you’re going to visit Grand Rapids.

Yes, Muskegon has some sketchy neighborhoods.  But, so does Grand Rapids.  Holland is nice as is Saugatuck.  @Matt - if you visit Saugatuck, make sure to buy a t-shirt to wear.

It's nice seeing normal people at a gym without masks in that video in the OP. Sad story about Justin. I wouldn't wish that on anyone. I guess bodybuilding is working as an outlet for him, and he seems to be doing well in Michigan.

Good to know it isn't just Canada's healthcare system slowing down so much with all this going on. Good, in that it makes me resent it less.

I shouldn't bitch so much about my locale, but there are some legit issues here, especially with COVID measures right now.

Maine seems nice too.
