Title: My daughter makes good in the comic world!!
Post by: indie-lad on October 28, 2017, 07:40:04 AM
At 12 years old, she's the youngest hired professional ever. And being hired by legend Roy Thomas no less.

An incredible feeling to watch your child succeed at such a young age. I'm a proud dad.

Enjoy the day.

PROUD DAD (Indi), Congrats to you and your talented daughter!

I sorta know the feeling as I have four nephews and nieces who already have SAG (Screen Actors Guild) cards. Two of whom are only 6 years old and the other two still in  their pre-teen years.

They say that "talent" is passed from parents to their kids and I believe that to be true as their dad has worked on just about 80% of the Hollywood, blockbuster, super-hero movies you may have ever seen ....

So I'm guessing that you or your wife passed on some similar artistic talents to your daughter.

Right!??

Congrats to your daughter once again!--

Congrats of course, and clearly talented for sure.  But perhaps she had a tiny bit of a helping hand...?  ;)

"[She] had her artwork chosen to appear in the November issue of Alter Ego magazine, a comic fan magazine edited by Roy Thomas, the first successor to Stan Lee as editor in chief of Marvel Magazine in 1972, and the co-creator of many beloved superheroes, including Wolverine and Iron Fist.

The connection was made [] when she dedicated one of her drawings to Thomas and his wife, the comic book writer Dann Thomas. Cimino’s father, John , is a lifelong comic book fan and artist who owns a comic book store called Saturday Morning Collectibles in Raynham and works as a promoter and agent for writers and artists, including Thomas. John Cimino sent his daughter’s drawing to Thomas..."

No disrespect meant BTW, I'd have done exactly the same thing in your position.  8)

Congratulations, John!

This is great news, and what a wonderful relationship you share with your daughter. I am reminded of your special moment with her, captured in time, in that NY Post piece of not too long ago. (http://nypost.com/2015/07/14/did-stan-lee-steal-spider-man-from-a-brooklyn-costume-shop/)

Excelsior!

You win pointlessly negative post of the month.

99% of actors/actresses in Hollywood have a relative or friend in the business.

Congratulations to your daughter. Now make sure the public school system doesn't indoctrinate her to make liberal pc sjw comics.

She must have some talent and not the kind where kids found this in the back of a comic and then traced it and sent it in:

Let her have her moment.  If her talent proves durable, she will be back.  If not, she as a great memory to share with her kids.  ;D

Very cool, and congratulations. That is actually an awesome honor, and very proud for you and your daughter.   My son and I got to meet Stan Lee a few months ago at the Hollywood Chinese Theater Hand and Footprint Ceremony, and then we all got to go the the party that same evening, meeting a few people from the Comic Book world.  And don't forget, we have a superstar that was on the boards here that makes a living in drawing comic books too.
