Figgs, you really need to read The Wisdom of Mike Mentzer, you will love it.

Thanks man I plan to read that next!

Good but not great. Very obvious lack of detail in key areas of the upper body.
including chest & arms.

Pumpster, this sounds like a carbon copy of what you say about Lee Priest. I just don't see it.

Mentzer never had much detail overall on the front upper body, esp. chest & bis. Maybe the lack of volume and/or the drugs. Even Viator believed in using volume to refine prior to contests.

I'm still looking for a reliable source as to what cause two supposedly healthy individuals to suddenly died. I'm gonna give them the benefit of the doubt.

They came from a family history of heart problems. Their dad died young. Ray had kidney problems. I am sure steroids don't help these things. Mike supposedly smoked cigarettes too.

Depends on perference. My arms are structurally similar to Mentzers so I prefer his.

MM was frickin' amazing - one of the very best. That's why he was inducted into the IFBB Hall Of Fame...

If he was unjustly denied, he was one amongst a group in that category, that eventually left the IFBB or retired. One of the top 5 or 6 BBs of the late 70s, not better than that.

lack of detail ;D

i think it's more like a lack of blackness where pumpster's concerned? he's a racist piece of shit.

Absolutely Arnold's arms, or Szkalak, who beat Mentzer. Mentzer was good but there wasn't a single area in which he had the best development.

Why, do you think he would've gotten better? Those of that era were pretty much all at their peaks but if there was room for improvement it would have applied to all of them. I didn't see that much change later amongst that group.

Why not? He was only 29 in '80, relatively young...

He should have beaten Frank Zane in '79 for the overall but IMO lost in '80. However he deserved better than 5th.
Agreed. Callendar should have won that O. Still, Mentzer had a great influence on a lot of people and his most important subject was to NOT over train. I wouldn't have progressed as quickly as I did if not for some of his articles.

Kal had no legs. That might have been the biggest fuck over Mentzer had.

Nope; close only because of the legs; Szkalak blew him out on upper bod, which is my point. If Mentzer had had a great upper bod it wouldn't have been close.
