If it was just the west they were marketing movies to then most of Hollywood would come out, but Hollywood makes most of its money from the east who are( in general) all hugely homophobic, box office ratings would plummet for gay actors and they wouldn't get hired.Its just business.

Pretty much true, you take the guys who did theatre at your school, you put them in front of a gay casting director who gets to choose between 1000 good looking young men, what is there to set them apart?The one that will do his part on the casting couch.
