check this old powerlifter out, he's also got bands on there, 405 for 8, it's at the 3 minute 10 second mark.

Thats the video from Jim Kegrice's gym in San Diego.  I've done a few meets some of those guys were in and they are strong as fuck.  I think Kegrice pulled close to 700 at 220 recently.  He's the short bald guy in the vid.

well admittedly it's a reverse band press, so the weight at the bottom is considerably less than 405. green bands, took off over 100 pounds up to i think 150-ish depending on how taut they were. regardless that was some damn good lifting for any age, let alone an older guy with long-ass arms.

I was wrong, he pulled over 700.  He did 688 at 198 in WABDL.

you put the bands at the top of the rack and hook them under the bar. it's basically hanging off them, so it's light at the bottom and heavy at the top. the closer you get to the bottom the greater the upward tension is.

damn i never would have guessed that, looked like he kind of struggling with 405 for that modified sumo pull off the floor.

The weight deloads at the bottom since the bands are pulling from the top.  Its almost like a lockout.  Still strong though.

no wonder, that looked way too easy to be 405, he was doing that easier than Coleman does 405 in COR.

more band trickiness. this time the bands (looked like a green and a blue, so a fuckton of tension there) were way in front, forcing you to pull straight backwards with a hell of a lot of force. i'd imagine most of us would get that two inches off the ground and then get yanked forwards. absolutely nuts.

He has about 250 pound of band tension on top of the 405.

bands are pretty sick, yeah. a while ago i got to lift at a damn good PL gym and we were doing box squats. 235 on the bar (2 45s and a thick 55lb squat bar), but then a couple bands on it. made the tension at the top over 400. you have to get some serious speed out of the bottom or you get stuck. did the same with pulls, 185 and i have no idea how much tension in bands but the lockouts were ridiculous.

hey, i always need a guy to verify or correct what i'm saying. my experience with bands is pretty basic, admittedly. i know just enough to sound like i know what i'm talking about.

i'm not sure. i would guess that it likely is, but i couldn't tell. it all depends on if the bands are positioned so they aren't pulling up on the bar any more at the top of his lift. band work isn't about power, it's about speed.

Power is the combination of mass and speed?

that place looks like a huge gimmick made to have shitty looking guys feel better about themselves.

guy with 250 lbs of reverse tension on bench (why not use 155 lbs on bench instead)?

guy with 7 tons on squats going down 3 inches, then pulling himself up by the rack, guy box squatting whatever, guy doing bench with a bent bar so he can get actual full range of motion by avoiding his gut/tits.

looks retarded.  what's with the round dumbells? are they somehow more hardcore?   ::)
