We have any firefighters here?
« on: December 25, 2005, 11:40:06 AM »
3.5 gallons of lighter fluid. Poured in a trunk.  Lit.

How big of a flash / explosion would that be when all of it was ignited at once in a car trunk?

you don't have to be a fireman to know it'd be a crazy big flash. I don't think it'd actually "eplode" though.

If you take the brake light wire out of the light, and put it in the gas tank taped to the metal... When they go to hit the breaks... BOOM

That's an old concept and it doesn't work on cars built in the last 15 years

LOL.. yeah u do.  3.5 GALLONS of lighter fluid?  Think to yourself what it does when you squirt it into a grill.. and that's probably an once or 2.   Lighter fluid is very volitile.  Now, hypothetically, if it was ALL put into the trunk?
If you were dumb enough to start it from the trunk closely (via a lighter) your ignorance would be severly punished.  As a matter of fact, with 3.5 gallons of it you might as well jump in the trunk itself and light it.

If they used that,, it was all over the car, not centralized.  If so, the torcher would either have to had left the trunk open and THROWN a fuse in, OR, they would be taking his confession from a burn unit.

I dounbt they emptied all the stuff at once.  All they had to do is leave the cans in the trunk and empty just part of one all over the body and then the rest all over the outside and inside of the car and light it.  It would take a little time for the heat and flames to ignite the other cans around the body. If you leave the trunk closed you could then empty more of the kerosene on the body to insure a good burn.  If you light the outside of the car it will take a few moments to ignite the trunk.   And you can also pour a trail and ignite that.  Simple stuff guys.  God you guys sound like you've never lived in Vegas and done this before.

I'm a firefighter and I can tell you that fires are HOT. Sometimes you can get burned just by being NEAR a fire. And when it gets SUPER HOT, the flesh on your skin starts to bubble and blister and peel off. You don't have to be on fire to do something like jump out of a building from 90 stories up -- you can be in a room with a fire and it will get so hot you will begin to burn, blister and peel. Try putting your hand in the oven and multiply that times four - fires can make the temperature more than 1000 degrees.  People I know who were trapped in the WTC towers told loved ones they were standing on their desks because the tiles on the floor were melting from the heat.

We don't test levels of lighter fluid, but I've put out barbecue fires from busted propane tanks and leaks. Lighter fluid acts as an accelerant and would cause the body to burn more quickly, but not significantly so.  The smoke from the burning vehicle would been seen in a flat area like Las Vegas relatively quickly, as the desert winds would blow the smoke miles within minutes. It was a dumb idea to burn the body in the trunk. A better idea would have been to dump the body in a three foot ditch and burn the body there. Very little smoke and a much quicker burn.

:)

if you dont want to call attention
DO NOT burn a motor vehicle
all the rubber and petroleum products
create tons of smoke.

burning tires, interior upholstery fibers etc.

the fire plan was ridiculous

The average cremation temperture is 1500-2100f, and takes 1-3 hours. I doubt a car fire generates anything near that.

Especially your own::)

Craig Titus is unquestionably the dumbest motherfucker on the planet.

He sure is.  He had the perfect alibi and if he didn't panic it could of all been explained as the OD, which is probably what happened.  What he did screams guilt.

dump the body in a three foot ditch and burn the body there.

that's what you get when you put Craig as the arsonist and Rodney St.Cloud as the firefighter.
