I’ve been to that latitude on land twice: first in then-West Germany and then in Northern Ireland.

Agreed. It's a bit strange. Maybe both sides know of the mutually-assured destruction if the SHTF, and neither wants to make the next move towards either totalitarianism, or the defense against it.

Exactly. A lot of people really won't fight the government when push comes to shove. I know those same people who hoarded ammo and bought body armor in the past few months. I know they won't pull the trigger. I asked one very militant friend what he would do when the government came knocking on his door demanding his guns. His reply 'I'd take them all out". Meanwhile he also told me "Maybe Biden won't be so bad" , lol Seriously deluded.
The takeover of citizens rights has already begun. Only a few brave souls have openly challenged the government - and there are a fair number of women in that group! God bless them.
The fight back against this assault on freedoms will happen soon enough - but it won't be the people you think it will be. It will come from left field...
