Title: Cheating on a diet
Post by: Cleanest Natural on January 21, 2013, 06:57:57 AM
I am trying to get ripped. So I do a diet with meat and veggies and some good fats. Anyway.. every fourth day or so I eat once all and everything I want.

What are your oppinions on this? Does this helps or hinders the fatloss?

PS: As soon as I hit 7% or so bodyfat I will stop this routine, drop the veggies and eat strictly lean meats and good fats.

IMO... Don't just eat a cheat meal every 4 days based on the fact that its been 4 days since you last cheated.. Push the diet as long as you can and eat just enough to remain hungry. Sometimes you might make it 4 days perfect and strict another time you might make it 10 days -2 weeks. Only eat a cheat meal if you stop getting a pump when training. This is a sign you need to eat a dirty meal. If you keep sodium high while dieting and start your day off with carbs at meal 1 you should be good to go for a week or two before you really need any dirty food.

Good advice from CD. Four days is too frequent.

When dieting for contest, I do it like this. I set BF% targets. When I get there, I have a cheat day.

So, basically, everytime I drop 1% BF, I get a cheat day. If the BF% doesn't come down, I don't get to cheat.

Sometimes, I'll go only 4-5 days and get another cheat day. Sometimes, I go two or three weeks. It is what it is.

This is only when dieting.

During everyday living, I just eat whatever I want on Sundays.

Cheat days are for the weak minded.  Once I get into a diet zone, I don't want to break out of it. I get to a point where I don't even want to eat bad food.  It doesn't appeal to me.

A few years back when I lived in So Cal I was on a strict diet to get in shape for summer.  I was so sick of eating brocolli, rice, chicken and fish for weeks on end.  I was food shopping and made a turn down the cereal aisle.  I must have gotten weak and bought an economy sized box of Lucky Charms.  When I got home I ate the entire box... it was fucking awesome!

Keep in mind Sev has a very fast metabolism so I think he can get away with 1 every 4, although I would probably do 1 every 6 if I were him but the average person would need to stretch it once a week.

Yes this is what I do as well, although mine is set to when I reach a certain weight, usually from 3-6lb loss, I aim for 10 cheat days in 12 weeks, however I always get there early, always.

My weight fluctuates due to water retention so easily depending on what I'm running, and what not. That's why I can't rely on bodyweight, much as I'd like to.

That's why I used BF%. But for a guy like you who's dieted for many more shows than I have, you know your body better.

Oh doing it by bodyfat % is way better, I am pretty consistent with my the degree of water I have in me. Hey bro been meaning to ask you, do you ever go to any of the shows in south ontario or even the Toronto pro?

2000-2500 calories, eat whatever you want to fill them.  Simple as that.  That way you won`t ever have to make a thread such as this ever again.

a diet like that will go just fine, until you awaken instinctual starvation appetite and you will rebound like a mofo being absolutely insatiable for 3 days and then you can't get back to the diet for awhile.

TA - do you always eat that much? I know you're pretty lean all the time, but you've got to go over 2500kcal on some days? Thanksgiving? Christmas? Hanukkah? Kwanzaa?

2000-2500 is probably too much to lean out.  The average person needs that amount just to stay level.  To really start leaning down they need to get to about 1500-2000 max.  Macros are still important as well.  Eating just 2000 calories of carbs will not help to retain muscle.

I wouldn't do cheat meals since that would wake up an insatiable animal inside and eat everything in site for a few days.
I am doing once a week 350g of relatively clean carbs refill.

If you are a lazy slob you might need to go lower.  However, 2000 for anyone who trains regularly and doesn`t sit in bed all day, will rip you up in due time.  Simple as that.  I have gotten lean on 2800 without having to go any lower.

Why no more hormonas winged lion?

When you and groink had that feud going, you looked pretty jacked at the end. That would be an ideal physique for everyday living that you could hold on to without too much work once you achieved it again.

there are so many factors involved.....amount of lean muscle, activity level, drugs.  anyone over 200 pounds with a decent amount of muscle and a good training program should be able to cut on 2800-3000 cals a day.

I think you would be better off not cheating now - and cheating once every few days when you get down to the lower bf % because it would help keep your metabolism from stalling out.

Better even not to cheat but to just increase carbs (with healthy carbs) once or twice a week.

All this talk about cheating led me to McDonalds yesterday after 2 months of no cheat meals.  The damage?

20 chicken nuggets
Crsipy Chicken Sandwich
Grilled onion Cheddar
Big Mac
Quarter Pounder
2 double cheesburgers
large fry
strawberry shake

I felt like I was going to give birth.

I do it for a few months then I am back to a normal life .. I have not competed in the last 10 years so it's a nice hobby.

If I could tolerate very high doses, imagine a leaner meaner Groink with huge wheels  ;D

Good perspective Sev

He never did.  He just wore a thong and took a pic.  He never produced what contest and the results.

no but the mirror is unforgiving.

2500cals is too much to get really lean.

or itll take forever.

i wanna see the gymrat who gets shredded on that.

ok, depends on what kind of job one has, etc.

They cut on 3000kcals, doing like 2hours of cardio here. The reason why they eat so much is because they are "afraid to loose muscle".

They don't understand that this additional carbs will make your insulin go to the level where it's very hard to loose bodyfat for 90% of people. All this additional cardio will do is burn that energy from carbs off and of course not without cost - every activity makes it harder for you to repair muscle tissue, it wreaks havoc on regeneration... Which means more muscle lost.

Also, some people will NEVER, EVER get lean naturally. 15% - sure, 12% - maybe, not likely tho. They tried every protocol under the sun and whetever they did they just either:

 - stayed fat
 - lost tons of muscle and got smaller with little bit of fat lost

And year after year they remain looking EXACTLY the same and no guru, no layne norton, no true adonis can help them. Only a set of needles, syringes and good old testosterone propionate can.

CAN YOU FUCKING READ?

For some it CAN be done.

For many others it CAN'T be done.

I am 100% sure there is NO WAY I could get to 6% naturally, NO FUCKING WAY. Naturally, getting to 12% is pain in the ass. Naturally for me, maintaining 15% is pain in the ass.

Say hello to low testosterone.

At the Olympia this year, you and I are going to meet up and take down a buffet. I can be your wingman. We're going to own the roast beef carving station. That night, the house will NOT win.

I have to agree, the timed I have tried to get lean naturally I went from 230 not really fat with semi visible abs to around 185 but just slightly leaner, not worth it.

What is 6% naturally?  You will look like a flat, stringy, POS. Not hating, if that is the look you are going for. Be prepared for relatives/friends to think you have cancer/aids.

yes, opposed to natural somewhat fat 220, then start "diet" on gear and end up shredded 210 or even 220 couple weeks later

Yes, I personally seen a good friend go from around a soft 200 to around 220 with veins everywhere far leaner than at 200.
Id jump on the low dose test tomorrow in an ideal world.

Stop now before it's too late. Go eat a Bigmac meal and supersize it, then go get laid and be happy.
