The dude was a great worker in his day.
Met him once outside a local High School card in early 80's. He was traveling with midget "Sky Low Low".
We were kids, drinking beer in the parking lot, he happened to park near us. (Some big old car like a Lincoln or something). We asked them if they wanted a beer, they pulled out a 12-pack and said "We're all set".
Chatted for a beer and away they went. Found out years later he was gay, didnt matter, a good guy.
On the card (it was a great show) was Ray 'Crippler' Stevens vs. Patterson (His old partner from way back). The Rocks father, and RAW BONED Swede Hanson.
Since we went to the school, we got the ring-side tickets. Had a sign that said "Ray is Gay" he came over and ripped it from us, tore it up, etc.
Pretty funny.
Hanson was an impressive figure up close in thoes days. Though older, he looked like he could tear your head off easily.
Pete Doherty "Duke of Dorchester" was hilarious as always.
