I got hurt bad playing football, dislocated my shoulder and broke my collarbone in 1985. I had a motorcycle accident in 2002. Both required surgery. Anytime you are in great shape one day and the next day can't walk, bathe, dress or even wipe your own ass you get depressed. Even if you are young.
