Title: Any ideas on what the president will push through or try to the next four years?
Post by: Wiggs on November 07, 2012, 09:30:47 AM
 ???

With no chance of re-election, what are some ideas of what he'll try to push through this next four years?

I have some ideas below.  No time frame on when this will happen...

Obamacare will expand and some things that weren't included in the original Obamacare will be in the new version before he leaves office.

Campaign finance reform...It will be difficult but we may see an amendment to the Constitution that overturns the Supreme Court Decision that Corporations are people.

More states will continue to pass medical and MJ being legal in general.  The president won't legalize it, but it will be decriminalized and left to the states.

I have more but I'd like to hear some of your ideas.

lower the standard of living, but this we all know because he has stated so to be necessary for America to compete, drive down the currency and increase manufacturing and export again

His old version of Obamacare will not be looked at because there was direct competition with the private pay insurance companies that would cost them bilions, therefore they threw (someone) coinage to look other way on that rule in which was the major issue with healthcare!

he will make sure that in the unlikely event that the next president will be republican they will not be able to change Obama care, that is his legacy.
He will make sure that he will bring troops home, possibly fast track Gitmo and close bases in Irak.
As I said before - relationships with Israel will get pretty cold in the next few years.

Another thing that is guaranteed to happen, he will totally shit on his voter base because he does not have to worry about getting re-elected again.

Now we will see the REAL Obama.

I agree with Dr. Wigglestein.

Crime rates will go down in both Colorado and Washington due to Marijuana use being legal.

The economy in both of those states will improve at a remarkable rate.

Other states (starting with the most liberal ones) will follow suit and will legalize marijuana as well.

You mean allow competition across state lines? One of the reasons healthcare is so expensive, insurance companies are like dug in ticks and prefer to keep the existing rules because it minimizes their competition and maximizes profits.

I have more but I'd like to hear some of your ideas.

He'll probably try to push some misguided ban on "assault weapons" legislation, which is complete horseshit.  Anyone with a little money can modify an AK or AR to go fully auto.  And if those rifles are banned, they'll still be available on the black market.

Ironically, if he does do anything about legalizing grass, he'll probably push equally hard to crack down even more on tobacco.  I don't smoke, but I'm sick of the way the pendulum's swung from blue-air movie theatres and people smoking literally EVERYWHERE to smokers being ejected from apartment complexes because neighbors complained about the smell.

Pot smells far more foul to me than any burned tobacco, including cigars; and for the people who claim pot isn't addictive, well ... go fuck yourself in the eye with a large nail.  I have family members, friends and friends of friends who simply cannot function unless they smoke a shitload of pot at least 3-5 times daily.  Smoked tobacco, especially cigs, are certainly at least as, and probably even more, addictive.  OTOH, at least cigarettes, pipes and cigars don't impair someone's judgment to the point that positing the wrinkles in one's own hand as a "micro-study of the universe," followed by long periods of awkward silence, is actually an _improvement_ on the average pot user's thought processes.

And that's to say nothing of chronic use.  You know the type.  They toke up all day and all night.  And they're utterly fucking worthless.  As the REAL Dan Duchaine once said, it's a great drug ... if you want to be lazy and stupid.

Medicinal use is different.  For some, pot consumption is a great drug.  But let's not fucking pretend it's some miracle without consequences.

Obama has to get past the House if he wants to get anything with teeth passed.   And the House doesn't have the same incentives to compromise that the Senate does. The percentages of Republicans in the House aren't likely to change either because of gerrymandering, guaranteeing that some of the more ideological of Republicans in the House are fairly safe from being deposed.  The Senate is a different animal.  There are only two for each state and Senators are elected by a cross section of the states population which means their safety is not guaranteed and they are more to compromise.

My personal hope is that we can get a real public option.

ONE MORE REP, I 've  been raised to disagree with you regarding the legalization of marijuana, but I am definitely not against its use under most circumstances.

Now that it is legal in some states, it will be interesting to see how it all works out.

Would it be possible for you to keep us up to date on the outcome? Both good and bad.

And also if other states choose to follow suit?

Thanks,

(This tape will self destruct in 30 seconds!)

Can we agree in general it's not a good idea to drive a car or operate machinery on marijuana? The problem with test is that you can't say if was smoked that day or the day before.  Sure no pot smoker cares about DUI with pot but if your family was wiped out by high guy driving a car through a red light you would.

BAN PORN!

Before he was the presumptive GOP nominee Mitt Romney was just a guy giving a speech, trying to woo conservative voters. In 2007 Romney exposed some of his more extreme positions while speaking during a town hall meeting in Ottumwa, Iowa at the Hotel Ottuma. One such position which Mitt rarely discloses now is his deep desire to make it mandatory for pornography filters to be added to all new computers entering The United States.

In specific Romney said, "I want to make sure every new computer sold in this country, after I'm president, has installed on it a filter to block all pornography." He went on to say that he would do it for the children. The full video is in the left-hand margin of this article.

Now you could rationalize "Romney just said it once. Maybe I can let that slide." Except here is another video, from a different day, where he says the exact same thing. In fact, he begins his statement with the exact same phrase, "clean up the dirty water."

Dudes and DUdetts! I have a very limited but very profound association with marijuana and its use as well as many other hellucenogenics.

I can tell you that due to the fact that I have not been an avid user myself but have been within the middle of the most productive producers and users since it first became the 'drug of choice' for most of us .... but count me out and call me a "Goodie Goodie Two Shoes" for not imbiding as all my other friends and associates have been doing throughout their lifetime since the early 1960's!

I've witness every sort of misdemeanor and felony possible and have even done my best to protect the guilty (Most times but not all the times.)

I could tell you stories you would not believe unless you were yourself an avid abuser with unbelievable stories of your own or just a  GoodieGoodie Two Shoes on  the sidelines willing to help the over-imbiders.

Murders, suicides, rapes, robberies and anything and everything in between.

One story of a friend doing his best to help his grandmother run away from alligators on Kalanianiole Highway! That was 40 years ago and he still swears it's true today.

I was there that day and it never really happened, but MAUI WOWIE can convince you otherwise.

Some very funny stuff, but mostly ... very sad!

For instance ... one afternoon our home ower decided to  uproot 300 majijuana plants that were growing in the back yard because they were getting too damn tall and the  whole neighborhood including the incumbent judge next door neighbor was starting to get to damn friendly  at our front door with their shopping bags and pleas for samples.

So the uprooting began and one of  the girls was an avid baker and lover of all things green, so she formed a committee and we uprooted and dried out every 'bush' and then ran them through a blender until they were as fine as powder.

That alone took a day or two. (And for some reason we were all laughing during that drying out and blender process.)

Then she sent us to the store to buy Snaking Cake and we started mixing those ingredients with a shit-load of 'marijuana flour' and did some baken at 325 for 40 minutes if this recipe is remembered correctly.

And we still laughed a lot. (I think it was the wine.)

Two days later we had a bakery full of green looking Snacking Cakes ready to be frosted.

But that night the downstairs tenants got hungry and decided to see what was good to eat in our upstairs  refrigerator.

And all that green cake stuff looked pretty good ... so they grabber it and a gallon of wholesome milk, made themselves welcome, and started munchen.

And those downstairs neighbors ate a lot of those green cake things without knowing what was 'eaten'.

And shortly after .... the trouble started.

Nazis and Judges and garage sales gone astray.

Even a parade in front of our house/

And that was only the very first hour of a very long tday!

More  'green cake' true stuff to follow on the funny side of this marijuana espisode if there is any interest.

BTW ... some of  these MJ stories include some very important people who loved green cakes and wild mushrooms after heavy rainfalls. And a lot of you knew then too. Or do know now!

But count me out! I was mostly there to kick 'em in the chest to get them breathing once again or to prevent them from committing suicide off three front balconies.

Goodie Goodie Two Shoes ..... I earrned it well.
