cool, very Satriani feeling.  Very good tone for that genre.  You play in a local band? Only knock is that the timing is maybe a little off at times - very common thing for bedroom virtuosos who don't regularly jam with a full band.  that kick drum hitting in your chest makes you hit on every 1 and 3 thru habit.

but i'm just a bass player who likes to play Slash and SRV shit on my les paul :)  your site looks good, you look like a creative guy.  Keep sharing the good stuff here!

I'm from a Canadian band called "Harem Scarem", you've probably never heard of it though as we've never broken through into the U.S., Alot of our market is in Europe and Japan. You should check out www.haremscarem.net when you have the time.

Pete- Your playing is smooth and professional, but not my style of music.

Rob- Cool that you are well rounded with hobbies, but don't quit your day job!  ;D

LOL... I decided early on that the odds of getting a record deal and doing that for a living were too small to count on.  Since then, music has just been a part-time thing to have fun.  I'd rather do 5 jaeger shots and jump around all night playing an intense live show than dazzle 2 guitar players in the crowd who are just begging me to play a bad note so they can clown me to their non-musician friends.

Besides, if Blink and nirvana can make retirement $ by 30 using 4 chords and one strumming style, perhaps there is still hope for me!

Again, I thank you guys for your honesty.
240, keep playing for fun man. This is really the only job that I've ever had. I just recently turned 38 years old and I've been playing in bands ever since I was 13 or so. It's really a bitch trying to make money at it, but its been alot of fun and all is well right now. I am one of the few people who can actually say that they love their job.

Sounds good, though I have a few critiques-

1) I'm not too much of an expert on that genre, but a lot of guys have a tone that sounds so similar, but that tone IMO is a little on the horrid side. Too many effects covering up what technique you may have- which one must have good technique to play like this, why not show it a little more? Guys like Eric Johnson (who does go for a different feel on many of his songs), have impeccable technique and a tone that is cool. EJ's tone would show a mistake instantly, kind of a catch-22 where his tone shows off his playing, but could also show how rotten he is should he not be too good!
2) Learn to deaden a note instantly. There are many places I heard where you should have just killed the note, but you let it ring as you slid up/down the neck. Basically, you would be playing a dotted quarter where it should be just a quarter or eighth note after a rest.

Aside from those two minor critiques, you sound like you know how to play-not some chump that overdubbed a track and is calling it his own.
I also have struggled as a professional musician, but after making 9k in one year, I said "Forget this." Just playing occasionally now, but always practicing.
Keep up the good work. :)

I can tell you that I did not overdub someone elses stuff and I'm trying to pull it off as my own. This was written and recorded in 1993 and was put out on my band's (Harem Scarem) second studio album Mood Swings. I agree Eric Johnson is an amazing guitar player.

I didn't think you did overdub, I was commending you on that fact. It's obvious to my eyes, that you are really playing there.
There is a video on youtube.com where a guitar player is faking "Sabre Dance" by Dave Edmunds. You can tell the timing of the fingers are off, the tone of the guitar is exactly the same as Dave's recording, and the guy does more antics of jerking around than playing.
I know it's you recording that, just to be clear.

I apologize, I must have misunderstood what you wrote there.
You mentioned that you've struggled as a musician, how long have you been playing for?
Sorry,

I can't say that I have heard of anything like that before. I may just be reading what you wrote wrong as I don't fully understand what your trying to say by "my fingertips go beyond 180". If you'd like send me a pm explaining it a little more.

Good stuff Pete,
The music video was priceless. You guys did have some big hair. You are a very talented guitar player. I actually own the Album Mood Swings which the song "No Justice" is on.
